Business Club Italia in Uganda

Business Club Italia in Uganda A bridge between the Italian and the Ugandan business communities.

With a population of over 34 million people, Uganda is located in the East African region and is one of the founding members of the East African Community. Uganda has substantial natural resources, including deposits of copper, gold, other minerals and recently discovered oil, is characterized by fertile soils and regular rainfall. Agriculture is the most important sector of the economy, employing

over 80% of the work force and coffee accounting for the bulk of export revenues. Other sectors include manufacturing, tourism, services and renewable energies. Since 1990 economic reforms ushered in an era of solid economic growth based on continued investment in infrastructure, improved incentives for production and exports, lower inflation, better domestic security, and the return of entrepreneurs exiled by the previous regime. Uganda's economic growth rate is currently placed at over 5% and projected to reach 7.2% over the next 5 years supported largely by the ongoing investment in infrastructure and the recent oil discoveries. Italy, on the other hand, is currently experiencing the consequences of the financial crisis and market saturation in most of its sectors, though remains a successful exporter of the “Made in Italy” brand, a guarantee of long-lasting quality. We believe the Italian companies looking for opportunities to expand would offer a valid contribution to the sustainable growth of Uganda’s market. It is on this basis that the BCI in Uganda has been established to act as the bridge between the Italian and the Ugandan business communities. Descrizione
