aries and partners for private sector agribusiness development in Uganda. aBi Trust supports the Government of Uganda and the private sector in achieving the objectives of the Competitiveness and Investment Climate Strategy (CICS). aBi Finance is the investment arm of aBi Trust that aims to enable the Trust meet its programme activities in a sustainable manner by offering financing for agribusiness development through Lines of Credit, Agribusiness Loan Guarantees and Construction Guarantees Fund. aBi follows a long term commitment by being both a catalyst in support of the Ugandan agricultural sector and a conduit through which development partners and investors can build the capacity of the agricultural sector. aBi Mission is to have competitive, private sector led agriculture in Uganda and our Vision is to promote private sector agribusiness development to enhance wealth creation in Uganda. Our Components strengthen competitiveness of the agricultural and agro-processing sectors through three interrelated components: Value Chain Development (VCD) including trade-related Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary and Quality Management Systems (SPS/QMS), Financial Services Development (FSD) and a cross cutting initiatives which include; Human Rights Based Approaches, Green Growth and Gender. The aBi Trust strategy supports market-driven enterprises using a value chain approach for specific commodity groups (sub sectors) were six value chains are being supported. These include: Cereals; pulses, coffee, oilseeds, Horticulture and Dairy. The Trust supports Farmer Organisations (FOs), Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Financial Institutions (FIs), Business Development Service Providers, women, men and youth groups and other entities form the implementation vehicle that delivers support to agribusiness, and improved opportunities to access financial services.
