📣🇬🇧 Today is World English Language Day in Bordeaux! This day aims to promote multilingualism and cultural diversity. For the occasion, we linger on the Statue of Liberty located in Place Picard.

Initially, the city council decided to hire Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor who created the famous statue in New York, to create the statue in Bordeaux. It was inaugurated in 1888 before being destroyed in 1941. It was only in 2000 that a resin reproduction was created by the Ateliers de la Réunion des musées nationaux and it can still be seen today! 🤩
