A true design icon of the 20th century 🤍 in our project.
Designed in the 1950s by Pierre Jeanneret for the city of Chandigarh, India, this chair with a woven cane seat was never meant to be decorative. It was created as functional furniture for government buildings — honest, durable, and perfectly adapted to the climate.
Today, it is considered one of the most collectible mid-century chairs in the world. Original pieces were handcrafted from solid wood with natural cane weaving, making every chair slightly unique.
Once overlooked, authentic Chandigarh chairs are now highly sought after by collectors and galleries, with prices reaching several thousand euros per piece on the vintage market.
A reminder that true design doesn’t chase trends —
it becomes history.
