Universe.Human.Intelligence - The Exhibition for Curious Minds

Sirindhorn AstroPark
Chiang Mai- Thailand
March 11, 2023

Thailand's scientific community is buzzing with excitement as the highly anticipated exhibition, Universe.Human.Intelligence., officially opened its doors at the Princess Sirindhorn AstroPark. From March 12 to April 16 2023, visitors will have the opportunity to explore some of humanity's most profound questions in an interactive and engaging manner.

The exhibition, which originated from Germany's Max Planck Society, is a five-themed journey through The Universe, Human History, Our Brain, The Anthropocene, and Artificial Intelligence. With easy-to-understand texts in both Thai and English, Universe.Human.Intelligence. strikes a balance between imparting general knowledge and presenting cutting-edge research, making it accessible to audiences of all ages.

As the first stop in Southeast Asia, the exhibition has already generated immense interest, with scientists, educators, and curious minds eagerly awaiting its arrival. The National Science Museum (NSM) and National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) are the perfect venues for the exhibition, providing an appropriate stage for the subject matter.

In addition to showcasing the research opportunities available in Germany, Universe.Human.Intelligence. also demonstrates the power of science as a tool for intercultural cooperation. By employing multinational and transdisciplinary research teams, we can tackle the challenges we face in a globalized world.

The opening of the exhibition was presided over by Dr. Saran Posyachinda, Executive Director of the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand. Dr. Saran spoke about the significance of the exhibition, stating that "it is important for the younger generation to learn about science and technology, and to have an understanding of how they can use their knowledge to make a positive impact on society."

Universe.Human.Intelligence. is open to the public from March 12 to April 16 at the Princess Sirindhorn AstroPark. Admission is free, so don't miss this opportunity to explore the big questions and find surprisingly simple answers.

SEAAN Meeting 2023, 1-3 February 2023 "Archaeoastronomy in the Modern Era" - Khmer Rendezvous

Siem Reap, Cambodia - The Southeast Asia Astronomy Network (SEAAN) is holding its annual meeting with the theme of "Archaeoastronomy in the Modern Era" from February 1-3, 2023. The conference organised by the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or NARIT in conjunction with Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), is held in the city of Siem Reap, Cambodia, bringing together leading researchers, academics, and industry experts from Southeast Asia and beyond to discuss the latest developments in the field and in other areas of astronomy and astrophysics as well.

Archaeoastronomy is the study of how people in the past used astronomical knowledge and techniques to understand their environment, predict celestial events, and construct buildings and monuments aligned with the stars. The theme of this year's meeting reflects the growing importance of this field in modern times, as scientists and historians work to uncover the mysteries of our ancestors' relationship with the sky.
The conference program features keynote speeches, scientific presentations, as well as online presentations. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the latest research in archaeoastronomy, as well as share their own findings with the wider community.
The conference is chaired by Prof. Boonrucksar Soonthornthum, NARIT Executive Advisor and also the Chairman of SEAAN. He is also a keynote speaker among others such as Prof. Paul Ho from East Asian Observatory, Prof. Kazuhiro Sekiguchi from National Astronomical Observatory of Japan and Prof. Hakim Malasan from Istitut Teknologi Bandung.

Siem Reap, known for its rich cultural heritage, is the perfect location for this meeting, as the city is home to some of the world's most famous archaeological sites, including the Angkor Wat temple complex. The conference organisers hope that attendees will take advantage of this opportunity to visit the area and gain a deeper appreciation of the region's rich history and culture.
This meeting is a unique opportunity for anyone interested in the intersection of astronomy, history, and archaeology to connect with experts in the field and to learn about the latest research and discoveries.
The Southeast Asia Astronomy Network was established in 2008 with the aim of promoting collaboration and exchange between astronomers and related professionals in the region. The annual meeting provides a platform for researchers to share their work, exchange ideas, and build new relationships in this exciting and rapidly growing field.
