เกี่ยวกับห้องสมุดมหาเล็ก
ห้องสมุดมหาเล็ก เป็นห้องสมุดเอกชนสาธารณะเปิดให้บริการฟรี
ก่อตั้งขึ้นเพื่อให้บริการแก่นักเรียนนักศึกษาและประชาชนทั่วไป ที่สนใจค้นคว้าหาความรู้เกี่ยวกับศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัย, ปรัชญา, ประวัติศาสตร์ ด้วยสื่อการเรียนรู้ที่หลากหลาย เช่น หนังสือ, นิตยสาร, วารสาร, ภาพยนตร์ และ สารคดีเกี่ยวกับศิลปะ บริการ Podcasts, อินเตอร์เนต และ อื่นๆ
ถึงแม้ว่า ห้องสมุดมหาเล็ก จะมีสำน
ักงานอยู่ที่จังหวัดเชียงราย แต่ผู้ที่สนใจก็สามารถใช้บริการห้องสมุดมหาเล็กผ่านทางเวบไซต์ http://mahalec.org
ห้องสมุดมหาเล็ก มีโครงการจะจัดกิจกรรมที่เชียงราย, เชียงใหม่และที่อื่นๆ
เช่น การเสวนาเกี่ยวกับศิลปวัฒนธรรม, การประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการ, การทัศนศึกษา, การฉายภาพยนตร์และวีดิทัศน์ รวมถึงการจัดแสดงนิทรรศการศิลปร่วมสมัย
ถึงแม้ว่าห้องสมุดมหาเล็กจะมีขนาดเล็กๆ จำกัดด้วยพื้นที่และเงินทุน แต่ก็มีความตั้งใจที่จะสร้างสรรค์พื้นที่อิสระของการเรียนรู้ทำความเข้าใจยุคสมัยและความเปลี่ยนแปลงของโลกด้วยการศึกษา เพื่อประโยชน์แก่ชุมชนสาธารณะ
ห้องสมุดมหาเล็ก ก่อตั้งขึ้นในเดือนเมษายน 2553 โดย Mr. Reinhart Frais ร่วมกับศิลปินชาวเชียงราย นายอังกฤษ อัจฉริยโสภณ ด้วยความสนับสนุนเป็นอย่างดีจากเพื่อนๆและอาสาสมัคร

About Mahalec Resource Center
Mahalec Resource Center is an independent library focusing on art and culture, based in the capital of Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Rai. The Center is dedicated to serving artists, students and the public by providing free access to books and other resources not generally available outside Bangkok, to enable learning, research and enjoyment. While its base is Chiang Rai, Mahalec will also host events in Chiang Mai and elsewhere in Thailand. It will provide access to its materials nationwide and internationally via its website, http://mahalec.org
Among the Center’s current and future materials are:
- Books, including illustrated volumes.
- Magazines and journals.
- Exhibition catalogs.
- Thai translations of significant texts on art.
- DVDs, including documentaries on art.
- Podcasts.
- Audio recordings of lectures and conferences
- Audio books.
- Etc. The library has computers and internet access for visitors’ use. The Center will also organize events in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai and elsewhere, including:
- Lectures and discussion groups on art, culture, philosophy and other topics.
- Workshops.
- Screenings of films and videos.
- Etc. Although its size and funding are modest, Mahalec aims to have a substantial impact by curating its resource materials and programming thoughtfully, to benefit users and their communities. Mahalec Resource Center was founded in April 2010 by Reinhart Frais and Chiang Rai-based artist Angkrit Ajchariyasophon is supported by users, donors and volunteers.
