A milestone for cooperative leadership development in Thailand! 🇹🇭

Today, 20 trainers successfully completed the first Leadership Bootcamp Series 1 Training of Trainers (TOT) program and were certified as trainers. The program equips them with leadership development, facilitation, adult education, and training skills, including the 11 Leader-SHIFTs.

These 20 certified trainers are now ready to bring the Leadership Bootcamp to more cooperative leaders, multiplying the reach of leadership development across Thailand. The program envisions each trainer conducting at least two programs annually.

Congratulations to the first batch of 20 Certified Leadership Bootcamp Series 1 Trainers! 🎓👏

From learning to leading. From trainers to multipliers. The leadership journey continues.

From August 23–26, 2026, the Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) is organizing the 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩 – 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 (𝐓𝐎𝐓) for the Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Thailand (FSCT).
Over the past two years, FSCT has successfully conducted five Leadership Bootcamp programs, inspiring participants to embrace strong leadership values and practices. To further strengthen and sustain an efficient credit union network, FSCT proposed the development of a pool of trainers who can continue bringing leadership development to credit unions and cooperatives across Thailand.
Through this first TOT Leadership Bootcamp, ACCU aims to develop 20 trainers who will be equipped to facilitate future Leadership Bootcamp programs.
The goal is ambitious: each trainer is expected to conduct at least two programs annually, potentially reaching approximately 40 programs and 1,200 participants every year.
The program goes beyond leadership knowledge. It develops the ability to facilitate, inspire, connect, and transform—while applying the principles of adult learning and the 11 Leader-SHIFTs to the realities of cooperative leadership.
This is more than a training program.
It is an investment in trainers who will develop leaders, who will develop stronger credit unions, who will build a stronger cooperative movement in Thailand.
ACCU is proud to support FSCT in accelerating leadership development and strengthening the future of credit union networks in Thailand and Asia.

Today, August 12, we join the world in celebrating International Youth Day 2026.

On behalf of ACCU, we honor the creativity, resilience, and leadership of young people. This year’s global theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” reminds us that while youth live in diverse realities, their hopes—for dignity, opportunity, and a sustainable future—are shared across borders.

Our cooperative movement has carried the People Helping People philosophy for ages. This is the legacy we are meant to pass on. The youth are not just tomorrow’s leaders; they are today’s partners. They are searching for meaning, eager to make a difference, and ready to shape their own lives.

We must open our doors to them. Trust that they, too, want to build communities through cooperatives. Trust that they, too, want to strengthen cooperatives as instruments of empowering people, especially the disadvantaged.

Too often, young people are told to wait their turn. But the truth is, their turn is now. They bring fresh perspectives, digital fluency, and a passion for social impact. They are innovators, advocates, and bridge builders.

As cooperatives, we must not only welcome them, but we must also empower them. Give them space in governance. Invite them into decision making. Mentor them but also listen to them. Because when youth find meaning in the cooperative movement, they discover meaning in their own lives.

This year’s theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” speaks directly to us. Our young people may face different challenges, economic uncertainty, climate change, digital divides—but their aspirations are the same: dignity, opportunity, and participation. By opening our doors, we align our mission with their dreams. We have the capacity to transform ideals into impact.
On this International Youth Day, let us commit: to trust the youth, to empower them, and to walk with them as they find meaning in this world. May our cooperatives be places where generations meet, where legacies are passed, and where the future is built for a better society and better world.

The Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) was delighted to welcome a 65-member delegation from the Vietnam Association of People's Credit Funds (VAPCF) to our headquarters on 10 August 2026. The delegation was led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, Secretary General of VAPCF, together with leaders and representatives from People's Credit Funds across Vietnam.

During the visit, ACCU presented its vision, strategic priorities, and regional initiatives to strengthen credit unions across Asia. The delegation was also introduced to ACCU's products and services, including leadership development programs, Business Solutions, quality assurance frameworks, climate action initiatives, and technical assistance services. ACCU emphasized that the true identity of a cooperative extends beyond providing financial services—it is about helping members grow, improve their quality of life, and become economically empowered through leadership development and business development support. In addition, ACCU provided an overview of Thailand's cooperative movement, highlighting its historical development, the cooperative ecosystem, and the important roles of key government agencies and national federations in promoting and strengthening cooperatives throughout the country.

The visit also provided an excellent opportunity for meaningful dialogue and knowledge exchange between ACCU and VAPCF. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperative leadership, promoting innovation, and exploring practical approaches to further develop the People's Credit Fund system in Vietnam while reinforcing regional collaboration among Asian credit union movements.

ACCU sincerely thanks VAPCF for their visit and looks forward to continuing our close partnership in advancing a stronger, more resilient, and values-driven cooperative movement that improves the lives of people across Asia.

We also express our heartfelt appreciation to the Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Thailand Ltd. (FSCT) for kindly providing the meeting venue and supporting the successful hosting of this important visit.

💙🌍 A Friendship That Spans Continents — ACCU & ACCOSCA
Bali, Indonesia Learning Visit - July 24-25, 2026
54 African Credit Union Leaders

The warm gathering in Bali was a beautiful moment — but it was not the first, and it will not be the last. It is one chapter in a long and treasured story between the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) and the African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA).

For many years, ACCU has had the privilege of welcoming and facilitating learning visits for the leaders of Africa — opening doors, sharing knowledge, and building bridges between our two continents. Each visit deepens a bond that time and distance have only made stronger.

Why does this friendship endure? Because we are moved by the same mission: to promote and strengthen credit unions as vehicles for the socio-economic development of people. 🤝

No matter how far the miles stretch between us, we belong to one family. And that family follows a single North Star — the improvement of people's lives through the affordable, dependable financial services that credit unions provide.

Here's to the road we've walked together, and the many journeys still ahead. Different continents, one movement, one purpose, one family. 💛

Thank you, Enjoy your Bali visit: African Confederation Of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations George Ombado

Congratulations once again to both institutions on this well-deserved international recognition.
