-- Lets' explore about PowerBI Gateways ?- Introduction to Scheduled Refresh --

Sat wat dii thuk khun!!, Today, we will share about What are the PowerBI Gateways, where these can be used!, with related to schedule updating your data na khub!

Simply put, PowerBI Gateway => is just a Add-On software, a part of PowerBI Platform, which you install that on your on-premises Server to sync (update) your Data to the PowerBI Cloud Service..

In fact, there are two types of gateway: Standard mode and personal mode, but, currently, for normal users like us, we only use Personal mode..na khub!,

Then, within the PowerBI Service Settings, u can do Scheduling Refresh your data, with Daily, or Weekly frequency as shown below.. na khub!

That's all for now, today na khub!, Later, we will do Free PowerBI Trainings.., where We will practice together some PowerBI CaseStudies with DAX, and Scheduling Refresh!

Khawp khun.. maak na khub!., Sat wat dii khub!

For Daily, Minimum time interval between each frequency is 30 minutes!. Max amount of Frequencies per day, is based on the License u choose! Thank you khub!

Let’s learn about How PowerBI works na khub ??
Thu Ta Naing (Microsoft Certified Trainer 2021–2022)

Sat wat dii na khub! Today we will learn about why we, as a PowerBI Analyst needs to learn about how this software works.. na khub!. Now, let’s check these out!!. na khub!

We all know that learning PowerBI is a long journey, since new Updates & Features.. are coming out every month na khub!. Yet, all these features are mostly related with PowerBI Desktop, in which where we develop the Business Reports to our audience.

So, after then.. na khub!!., how to share these Reports to our customers ??

By sending this .pbix Solution File ???

No.., no way..!,

Instead, we use a Cloud Service called "PowerBI Service" na khub!. There, we "Publish" the Report Solution file to this PowerBI Cloud Service khrub!

To understand this simpler.. , I have shown the process flow as in the following figure khub!.

Then, from the PowerBI Service, we can share to our Audience through mainl two features:

(1) Publish to Web (Public sharing): Yes.., in PowerBI Service, we have a new Feature called "Publish to Web" where we can share this PowerBI Report.., through the Web access link.. However, it is only suitable for sharing Public Reports such as Covid-19 Statistics Dashboard, Public Awareness Dashboards etc. such that such kinds of Information should be shown to the public.

To share confidential Reports, such as Business Financial Data.., Private Confidential Information, we should use Private Sharing.. as stated below na khub!

(2) Sharing by Email (Private sharing): This is a private feature, where we can share to others through Email na khub! It can be considered private na.. khrub.., because only sender and receive email. can see our reports..
However, the dis-advantage is that we both (sender and receiver) need to have PowerBI PRO Account to use this feature..

So, it is not available for Free Users na khub!.

Okay. na ja!, That's all for today.., Hope you learn more about PowerBI Service.. If you like this post, pls like and share our Page too..

Later.., we will have exciting news for PowerBI Professionl Course..(Commercial) as well as Free Trainings too., who want to taste this superb PowerBI Business Intelligence Tech!!.

Thank you na khub!! khawp khun.. maak khub!

Quick Launch intro on PowerBI Components!
Mr. Thu Ta Naing (Microsoft Certified Trainer 2021–2022)

Sat wat dii khrub!!. Hope to see you again.. na khrub! Today, we will talk about the Basic Components in PowerBI that you should learn too. na!
For those, who started learning PowerBI, it is one of the top visualization software that can extract our Business Insights & perform Intelligent Analysis.
Now, not just that.., we also need to know what components basically that PowerBI made up of ?? Let's see..

(1) Visualizations ==> Yes!.., visualizations.., As I already discussed before.., PowerBI has a full rich set of visual charts explained below. You named it.., Bar Charts, Column Charts., Area, Line, Key KPIs, and now even AI (Artificial Intelligence) Applied new visuals such as Key Influencers, Decomposition Charts, can be used here na khub!

(2) Datasets ===> Not just that.., khub, we should look into Datasets, which are the main fuel to Visualize our Business Data na khub!, With PowerBI, we can import our datasets from csv, excel (these are flat files), as well as from Databases (SQL, MySQL.., SAP HANA etc.) or if you are a Digital Marketer…, you can import your CRM or Lead Data such as from Google Analytics, Salesforce CRM etc.. by establishing connection between PowerBI Import Connector and these Applications.. na khub!..
With PowerBI, we have a motto that "Experience your data, Any data, any way, anywhere" na khub!

(3) Reports ====> The next thing is Reports!.. na khub!. We all know that a single Visual Chart cannot show our Business Whole Story na khub!! thuk dtawng chai mai khub ?? So.., for our Audience, we need to make a PowerBI Report.., that will contains different types of visuals.., with each one representing Unique Business Insights…. na khub!. That's where we call this one, Report.. which is just a Combination of Different Visuals to tell story about our data!! na khrub!
For example, Reports such as Sales by Country, State, City Report, Logistic Performance Report, Profit by Products report are such examples of PowerBI Reports that we need to use in our Daily Business Decisions!

(4) Dashboards ===> Similar to Reports, there is another one, what we called "Dashboards" na khub!…. For example, Sales Dashboard will show all the details info about Sales Related Insights such as Top Product Sales, Time Series Sales Data.., etc. na khub!.

So that's all for today now thuk khun (everyone) na khub!!.,
LATER, i will be demonstrating Video Tutorials how to start using PowerBI na khub! as well as Introducing about Microsoft PL-300 (Old Version: DA-100) Exam…
which is needed to achieve Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst Associate.

Thank you all na khub!! khawp khun.. na khub! joe gaan phrun ni.. khub!

DAX (Data Analysis Expression), An Essential Language for PowerBI
Mr. Thu Ta Naing (Microsoft Certified Trainer 2021–2022)

Sat wat dii thuk khon!!., Welcome back na khrub!, today we will talk about DAX, that every Data Analysts Student should know in using PowerBI.

Now, Lets' check out, what are these ??

Simply put, DAX, stands for Data Analysis Expressions, in which we mainly use them to extract

(1) our Business Insights,

(2) the details and specific information from our Business Datasets, as well as

(3) finding out the Relationship Patterns between Data, and

(4) even comparing our Business Calculations over a different timeframe!

So na khrub!!, it's clear that we should learn DAX ASAP (As soon as possible) right ?

Ok then, let me introduce how many DAX Calculation types we can use in PowerBI ? NOW, let's go!

Actually, we can say that DAX can be used in 4 Areas: (1) Measures, (2) Calculated Columns, (3) Calculated Tables, (4) Row-Level Security… na khrub!!

Wait!!, what are these ?? , these are NEW to me ??

Ok,.. let's see ONE by ONE now..

(1) Measures: ==> Yes, we call that Measures, if u are learning Data Analytics Technologies in PowerBI na khrub!., To understand about Measures, let's look the picture below..

In this figure below, I have developed the Total Sales using Card Visual in PowerBI. So to produce these kind of results, we use Measures na khub! Especially Aggregation functions like SUM, COUNT, MAX, MIN etc.., are used in these kind of calculations na khrub!!

Yes!!, they are very useful in Developing PowerBI Report.., because without these we cannot efficiently produce these results in PowerBI na khrub!

Now, follow me!, lets see another one => Calculated Columns!

(2) Calculated Columns ==> Unlike Measures above ( I mean Different from Measures above), we use Calculated Columns in a different way. As included in the name, we use "Calculated Columns" to create new columns in PowerBI na khrub!! ..

For example, Let's look at the below figure.. , here, Our Original Datasets only have 4 Columns => "Name", "City", "Date of Birth", "Number of children" na khrub!

But, now, if we want to add a new column based on condition values of existing column values, we can use "Calculated Columns". That's where we apply this technique na khrub!.

(3) Calculated Tables ==> However, if we want to create Tables.. in PowerBI, we can use DAX Formulas in Calculated Tables na khub!. This can be used in situations when we want to create a new Table from existing Data Source Tables na khub!.

(Details will be explained in next post na khub!)

(4) Row-Level Security ==> In short terms, we call it "RLS". It's a kind of advanced topic on Securing our Report Data, so that only Authorized person users/ accounts can view their related information na khub!.

For example , even in the same Report, Sales Manager in Chonburi can only see Chonburi Sales, while Bangkok Sales Manager can only sales related with Bangkok Division. That's how we can control and restrict the permissions na khub!.

Now, thats all for today na khub!, I am learning Thai Language, day by day, and hopefully, can also explain in Thai language in coming future na khub!.

See u later!! thuk khun!!

Thank you

Importance of Data Visualizations & Extracting Business Insights

Hello.. all,..na khrub!, Today, i will share with all of you.., for the interesting Data visualization intro and Business Insights, and why you should need them ??

Author: Mr. Thu Ta Naing (MCT 2020–2022), DA-100 (PL-300*) Certified PowerBI Trainer and Azure Cloud Tech Enthusiast.

In Today's Industry 4.0 Era, we know that Data & Information are the most important strategic business assets. They are a kind of intangible assets, in which we should know how to effectively use and apply them..

That's where our Business Intelligence Comes in… Nowadays, Tools such as Microsoft PowerBI, Google Data Studio, TableAu, Qlik Data Analytics Software etc… can make that happen.

However, in this post, since I (the author) is a Microsoft Tech Enthusiast, I will share mostly related with PowerBI na khub…

With these help of tools, now, we can import raw datasets from different sources na khrub.., can be Microsoft Excel, csv, SQL, SAP Hana Databases or other Online CRM Applications such as Salesforce CRM, Google Data Analytics etc… (Pls see below figure..)

Then, we must go through a process , where Data Cleaning, Data Transformation should be taken place, so that we can interpret our Business Insights and Reports on the software..

However, in PowerBI, we also have to write DAX Measures, and Calculations where Business Insights, are extracted and shown with an Appropriate Visual on the PowerBI Dashboard similar to the above.

So, this is the overall steps, where Business Intelligence Analysts like us need to do per Client Requirement, so our Customers (Business Owners) can know which part of their Business need to still improve, their Products' Seasonal Trends, and Sales Patterns, Consumer Behavior Analytics, and even Sales Forecasting with Machine Learning.. (which we will explain this post later)
: -)

Bye na.. khrub!, That's all for today.!!., Pls like our page, Medium Page, and see you in the next Post!!

(1) Slicers

Slicers, as one of the default built-in visuals for PowerBI na khub!, is very important visual type for reporting khub!, Why ?? Because Slicers ควบคุมกับ Data Filters โดยเฉพาะ Categorical Data นะครับ… Also แต่วา จะ มั้น Filter Date, Time ดาตา ได้ แล้ว นะครับ..

Below, is an example of Slicer visual.. na khrub!!

(2) Waterfall Charts..

ข้อสอง visual คือ เป็น Waterfall chart นะคระบ ใน slideนี้ ..,
Waterfall Chart เป็น visual ย่าง นะครับ ..,
