Capital SLC: Mkhombokati CarePoint Community

Capital SLC: Mkhombokati CarePoint Community In 2007, Capital Church partnered with Mkhombokati National Care Point in Eswatini.

The Mhkombokati CarePoint serves approximately 200 children, many of whom are orphans and specifically rely on the CarePoint for food. Over the years, several short-term mission teams from Capital have traveled to Mkhombokati, bringing thousands of pounds of supplies and bringing back knowledge – learning from the children and adults on the ground what their needs truly are and how we can help them most effectively.

Last week, our Mkhombokati kids received uniforms because of your generosity to this amazing community! The AIM staff and regional team shared this about the special moment -

“It was a great pleasure and moment of joy for the kids of Mkhombokati as they received brand new school uniforms. Over 400 kids were provided with uniforms, and their excitement was clear in their smiles and laughter.

Many of the kids had been attending school in old, torn uniforms, which affected their confidence and comfort. Receiving proper uniforms has brought a renewed sense of dignity and pride among the kids.

Both the kids and parents are grateful to their Special Friends. Parents who had long struggled to provide uniforms are now filled with joy and relief. One of the parents shared, “ As a mother, it broke my heart to send my child to school in a torn uniform. I am so thankful to Capital Church; now my son goes to school happy and proud.”

One of the primary kids added with a big smile, “I love my new tunic. I will no longer wear the old one because it is torn. Thank you for making me look smart.”

Girls got tunics and boys got a pair of trousers and a shirt. The preschoolers got dresses for girls and boys, a pair of trousers, and a white long sleeved t-shirt.

The entire Mkhombokati community extends sincere appreciation to Capital Church for their generosity and commitment to the well-being of the kids.”

Thank you again for your blessings and generosity to this community. Stay tuned for more information about what’s been happening in Eswatini and how you can be involved this year!

Sani Bonani from our 2025 team! God has been on the move this week. We’ve seen changes in the community, staff, and kids that couldn’t have happened without God working.

We served 200+ kids this week and got to baptize 32 of them. We reunited with old friends we hadn’t seen in years, and built upon relationships that have been forming through intentional time and discipleship. We trained this country’s leaders with medical information that is necessary to keep these communities safe and healthy. This week we experienced unceasing love and joy, but also heartbreak as we heard stories and empathized with families.

Thank you for the way you have consistently supported this community and this team. As we fly back later this week, please be praying for the team to stay healthy and for safety!

Grace & Peace,
Your 2025 team!

Big News this !

announced that Brandon Babb has been hired as an Associate Pastor.

Brandon and his wife Melinda ( ) went on our first ever mission trips to Eswatini in 2008, 2009 and 2010. They were our first married five days after they returned in 2010. When their son Zach was only nine months old, they felt the call from God to become full-time missionaries living in Eswatini and spent the next 7 years serving on staff with . Brandon and Melinda left an incredible impact during their time in the areas of administration, technology and at Umdoni farm. They returned stateside - with their family of 5 - in 2022.

Brandon will have multiple responsibilities at Capital, but one will be to oversee Eswatini - and there couldn’t be a better person for the job! In fact, he and will be leading our 2025 mission team next June. (Applications due this week!)

Join us in congratulating Brandon on this new position. 👏

As this week begins, many of us prepare to gather and eat and give thanks - around a table.

This is a photo of our 2024 team and Mkhomobokati staff. They shared dinner after a long day at a table the team built during the week.

This table was not just wood nailed together that created a place, but a holy space – of community, and communion.

At that table, we are bound together by the grace of Christ and gratitude is communal. And we are bound together too by our shared communion in the meal Jesus gave us: Himself.

This Thanksgiving, in our bread and cup, let’s do so in remembrance and proclamation, in joy, dignity gratefulness – and anticipation.

From Nomphilo Simelane, October 31, Part TWO!

As it was a speech day, we had a speech from Tebesutfu Mbingo who is one of the kids.

She said “We are really grateful to have the CarePoint, it has helped us so much. We get clean water, food, they paid our school fees and they also got us school shoes. Some of us we really depend at the CarePoint because our parents can not afford to get us basic needs. We are so thankful for the love we receive from the CarePoint and from our Special Friends”. She was emotional when giving her speech.

We had a guest speaker who was Sbusiso Gwebu to encourage the kids to come at the CarePoint and work hard at school. (We are so excited that he is scheduled to graduate college in 2025!)

It was a day filled with performances from the kids. We had gumboots dance, traditional dance, music and poem.

Lastly the Small Group Leaders( SGLs) received prizes for working hard at the CarePoint and helping the Shepherd and Cooks.

The Shepherd and Regional Coordinator received a gift of appreciation for the hard work they put for the CarePoint to run smoothly. We also had refreshment for the kids. The kids were over 250 excluding Pre-schoolers.

Thank you to the Shining Star Regional team for putting this amazing day together!

From Nomphilo Simelane (Part One!):

“It was a great day for Mkhombokati on October 26th! We had our Speech & Thanksgiving day celebration to express our gratitude for the good things that has been happening. Moreover, it was to show appreciation to our Special Friends for everything they are doing for us.

We had prizes for the Cooks and kids. We are so much grateful to the Cooks for the sacrifice they make to serve although it’s strenuous for them as they are old but they keep doing it for the love of kids. As appreciation, we got them a set of glasses.

In addition, Pre-School teachers and the Computer teacher received a gift which was vacuum cups for the hard work they put when teaching.

For the kids we had different categories: Most participating, most attending, most neat, most performing at school, well behaved, excelling computer student and best music group and traditional dance. The prizes they received were water bottles and vacuum cups.”

Thank you, Nomphilo and field staff for acknowledging so many in the community!

IT’S DONE!

Check out this newly completed smokeless cooking structure! The cooks showed us a photo of a similar structure in the summer of 2023 with hopes we would consider building a new cooking structure under which they would not have to inhale smoke for hours and risk injury to their hands and feet from the fire.

And here we are!

Something else we celebrate is that because our CarePoint is so well sponsored over all these years, that not only are each of the kids fed and supported in a variety of ways, but we have the collective funds for special projects like this. THANK YOU!!
