English CLUB, Cours Sacre Coeur de Dakar

English CLUB, Cours Sacre Coeur de Dakar THE ENGLISH CLUB PROCEDURE :

It is important that the students want and/ or need an English Club. Avoid the mistake of being too ambitious.

In October, the students convened a large meeting at which the setting up of the English Club is proposed. We get a committee elected and we encourage them to prepare a schedule of activities. A good English Club is one whose meetings leave the participants with the desire to attend the next one. RESOURCES:

We use what is available bearing in mind that the purpose of the English Club activities i

s to provide opportunities for learners to practise the language in a stress-free atmosphere thus promoting learner’s autonomy. We encourage learners to read stories from the materials available in Sacred Heart School library or in the different resource centres (British Council, American Cultural Center, etc…)
We encourage them to make a good use of the computer, the net. We tell them about the advantage of listening /watching English language programmes on radio/TV
