What does it take to move AI from concept to responsible real-world application?

For Professor Henrik Christensen, Temasek’s inaugural Fellow, the answer lies not just in technical possibility, but in practical adoption – how organisations build the confidence, systems and pathways needed to deploy emerging technologies safely and reliably.

Through engagements with various companies such as SIA Engineering Company and ST Engineering, institutes of higher learning, and public agencies in Singapore, Professor Henrik explored how AI and robotics can be applied in real operational environments.

Part of Temasek’s T-Spring community gift, the Fellowship brings global expertise into the local ecosystem and supports deeper capability-building.

Our Global Direct Investments (GDIs) portfolio segment accounts for 36% of Temasek’s portfolio. Spanning companies across global markets, GDIs enable diversification across geographies and sectors.

Aligned to four structural trends – Digitisation, Sustainable Living, Future of Consumption and Longer Lifespans – our GDIs consist of resilient compounders in high-growth areas and equity investments in established and emerging market leaders. From S$3b in 2002, the portfolio segment has grown to S$156b in 2025, reflecting their long-term growth trajectory.

Through GDIs, we diversify our portfolio, capture growth in high-potential markets and strengthen resilience across market cycles.

From a “simulated patient”, camp facilitator, and to a television performer, Hasisha’s freelance journey came with financial uncertainty. That changed when she joined the Skills for Success (SFS) programme, which provides financial support and training to Singapore youth and women, enabling her to gain access tech skills, mentorship and job placement.

Skills of Success is funded through Temasek's T-Spring Community Gift, and support our community objective of Advancing Capabilities. Delivered by Generation Singapore with support from UBS Optimus Foundation, Institute of Policy Studies - IPS (NUS), and Tri-Sector Associates, the programme offers a three-month intensive training bootcamp for Singaporean youth, and women who remain underrepresented in tech roles.
