Jace Ng Bite size financial literacy that common people like us could adopt and make our future better Yet a decision I am glad I’ve made. The problem was ME!

My goal is to provide financial planning and solutions without the prejudice of self-interest. Having to work in the Singapore Armed Forces for 12 years as a Signal Officer, I am privileged to have worked along side great commanders, leaders and soldiers; and to leave that career with 2 kids while doing my part-time degree wasn’t an easy choice. Shortly after joining the financial services industr

y, I immediately saw a problem. How I planned my finances, my perspective, knowledge and understanding about financial planning. It was all skewed, lack of knowledge and context, and filled with bad experiences from product pushy agents that after some time disappeared from the industry, never to be heard from again. I bet most of us have similar experiences thus the stigma that comes with this industry. Hence, I aim and with my very best to serve my clients putting their interest before mine. That only when their needs are served mine is met.

Money is meant to be spent!!

But in what ways?? πŸ€”

Our relationship with money stems first with our thoughts. πŸ’ How we feel about it, determines how we spend it and our reality reflects our actions.

So, if you're unhappy with your financial reality, revisit your thoughts about money and revamp the cycle πŸ˜‰

Simple Illustration of the cycle πŸ”„

Money is expense -> I feel like spending them -> buy things that makes you happy -> lesser assets

Money is an asset -> I want to keep my assets -> spend prudently, investly wisely -> more assets created

Four learning points on the book "Psychology of Money" 🧐

1. Financial success is more about behavior than knowledge:

While understanding financial concepts is helpful, it's ultimately your actions and habits that determine your financial well-being.

2. Compounding is powerful but slow πŸ“ˆ:

It's crucial to start early and remain consistent in your savings and investments to benefit from the long-term power of compounding.

3. Avoid comparing yourself to others 🫡 :

Everyone is on their own unique financial journey. Comparing yourself to others can lead to discouragement and unrealistic expectations.

4. Diminishing marginal utility πŸ“‰:

The more you have of something, the less additional satisfaction each additional unit brings. Constant pursuit of money or possessions may not lead to proportionally more happiness
