Profile of Speaker:

Mark joined UOBAM in 1999 as an Investment Analyst and has been an integral member of the Asia team since 2004. With consistently strong performance, Mark was promoted to Senior Director in 2008 and Head of Greater China Equities Team in 2009. In 2011, he was seconded to China to head investments at the Ping An-UOB fund management company. He is the lead manager for UOBAM’s China equity related products.

Mark graduated with Bachelor of Arts (2nd Upper Honours) from Cambridge University, followed by a Master of Science from the London School of Economics. He has over 20 years of investment experience.

Over the last 2 years, I have been seeing more youth wanting to made their money work harder. It does not come as a surprise given that 1 in 5 youths in Singapore believe their parents have enough personal savings to finance their retirement in a survey few years back

This afternoon overheard a friend talking to his colleague. He exclaimed sometimes monies deposited in Singapore make be better than deposits place in overseas. And this article vindicate what my friend mentioned.

"There is a rise in foreign resident deposits over the last few months."

This makes me feel proud that Singapore is a safe country not only our streets but our monetary policy.

Long Term Care is not just a problem restricted to Singapore but a problem that affects globally especially countries with a rapidly aging population.

More importantly, by not pre-plan for Long Term Care. Should disaster strikes, are we been FAIR to the caregivers who may need to take care of us for the next decade mentally? The least we can do is not to be a burden on them financially.

After a major illness or accident, or in old age, we may need long-term care to help with everyday tasks. This care can be needed for a prolonged period of time, and the cost could rack up to quite a significant amount.
