The next challenge in AI infrastructure may not be where intelligence is computed.
It may be how that intelligence is connected.
As inference becomes distributed across the cloud, edge, and devices, compute placement, network conditions, and data movement are becoming increasingly interdependent.
We are already seeing early signs of this shift in inference-aware routing, distributed model serving, traffic steering and edge-cloud orchestration.
In our second thought leadership article, Inside the Intelligent Network Layer, we examine how this shift is changing the role of the network and why distributed AI increasingly depends on the network behaving as part of the system, rather than simply underneath it.
