Today’s learning adventure brought me into a dialogue on sanctions, export controls and geopolitical risks 🌍

Initially attended out of curiosity, but left the session with a deeper appreciation of how interconnected the world really is — from businesses and banking systems to investments and market sentiments.

The discussions on US-China tensions and sanctions developments also gave me better insights into how global events can shape markets and investment sentiments, which helps me provide more analytical perspectives to my clients in financial planning and investments.

Ironically, parts of the session brought back memories of my university days studying Corporate Law and International Finance — concepts that felt so theoretical back then, but now make much more sense seeing how they play out in the real world 😭

Still learning, still curious, and always grateful for opportunities to broaden my perspectives beyond my core field.

(Also yes…there were moments where I was trying very hard to stay awake while understanding Cayman Islands sanctions alignment. I’m imagining the sun, sea and beautiful beach. 🌅🌊🏝️🤣)

10 May 2026: Mother’s Day feels different for me these days.

In my early 20s, I was deeply driven by achievements — education, career progression and productivity. Alhamdulillah, I achieved many things I once dreamed about, but it also came at the expense of my health.

Years ago, I was diagnosed with PCOS before getting married. That experience eventually changed the way I viewed success, career and life.

After marriage, I chose self-employment because I wanted greater control over my schedule, financial goals and the kind of life I wanted to build for my future family.

But life came with its own tests:
birth trauma, miscarriage, grief, fear and the pressure of trying to keep up with career expectations during difficult seasons of life.

Today, success looks very different to me.

Success is no longer just about my own achievements.
It is also about my child’s wellbeing, my family’s peace, my health and having the flexibility to be present for the people I love.

I’m grateful to be surrounded by people who remind me to slow down, pace myself and build sustainably — especially in this current season of motherhood and healing.

Perhaps motherhood taught me this:
Success is not always about growing fast.
Sometimes, it is about building a life that can hold us gently through every season.

To every woman silently balancing ambition, healing, motherhood and personal struggles — I see you. 🤍

Happy Mother’s Day.

PS: This heatfelt song lil guy mentioned that he sang in school in conjunction to Mother’s Day. 🥲❤️

If you were to choose an outcome for your investments - 40% returns over a few weeks or 4% returns over 4 years - which would you choose? 👀

It would seem natural to choose 40% returns, maybe even silly if you don't 😆

But that is only assuming that you have the crystal ball 🔮 to predict the outcome perfectly 😏

April was an interesting and reflective month for me, as there were 3 experiences that anchored me deeper in the way i approach investments and plan for my clients

1) I joined a trading tournament (simulation with paper money that does not reflect real-life investments performance) and experienced the high of generating 40% returns (paper gain only)

2) My client sharing his joy over a phone call to achieving 4% steady returns over the past 4 years 🎉

3) Markets reacting to global news (and everyone panicking 😅)

And it reminded me…

✨ Not all returns are meant to feel exciting
✨ Not all strategies are meant to move fast

Short-term gains feel good.
But they come with volatility.

Long-term investing may feel slower…
but that’s where stability and real planning happens.

Across both, one thing stayed the same:

✔️ Don’t panic
✔️ Don’t chase
✔️ Stick to the plan

Honestly?

The 40% felt exciting.

But the 4%?

That’s the one that helps people sleep better at night.

Also feeling extra grateful…

This came just as I mark my 2nd year with finexis & EXO Advisory Group, and 6 years in the financial industry 🤍

And most importantly…
I stayed true to my principle —
only focusing on Shariah-screened investments during the trading tourrnament.

Because at the end of the day,
it’s not just about making money…
it’s about how we make it.

Different journeys. Different timelines.
But always guided by clarity and purpose 🤍

End of Week 1 — Trading Tournament Reflection 📊

It’s been years since I last joined a trading competition — the previous one was back in 2018, where I finished Top 20.

Fast forward to today, I decided to step back into this space again.
And within just one week, I’m reminded of something important:

👉 There is a big difference between investing and trading.

In my work as a financial consultant, I guide clients to:
– diversify their portfolios
– stay invested for the long term
– focus on consistency rather than short-term timing

But in this trading competition, the rules of the game are very different.

Here, performance is driven by:
– concentration, not diversification
– timing, not time in the market
– active decision-making, not passive discipline

And I’ll be honest — it’s not easy to switch between these two mindsets.

This week challenged me to:
– take profits instead of holding on “just a bit longer”
– manage positions actively instead of letting time do the work
– stay objective despite market fluctuations

At the end of Week 1, I’m currently not at the top yet — but I’m learning to think and act more decisively.

More importantly, this experience is reminding me that:
👉 The right strategy always depends on the objective.

With clients, the goal is to build sustainable wealth over time.
In a trading competition, the goal is to optimise performance within a short timeframe.

Two different games. Two different approaches.

Grateful for the learning — and looking forward to what Week 2 will bring.

This Raya felt a little different for me 🤍

I gave duit raya to my aunts — something I’ve been doing ever since I started working.

Yet every year, their reactions are still the same.

“Eh why you give us?”
“Aiyo, paiseh lah…”

I simply smiled and said,
“Doakan saya…(Pray for me…)”

For my health, rezeki, knowledge and iman.

What stayed with me wasn’t their surprise — but their response.

They comforted me.
They reminded me not to worry too much about life.
One of my aunts even gently “scolded” me for not sharing more about what I’ve been going through, saying she would have made doa for me.

And then she said something I won’t forget:

“If one day we’re not around, make sure you stay in touch with my children.”

That moment stayed with me.

Because beyond financial planning, beyond numbers, beyond policies and portfolios…

What truly carries us through life are:
– relationships
– trust
– and the quiet prayers of people who care about us

In my line of work, I’ve come to realise —
it’s never just about money.

It’s about people, families, and the responsibility we carry for one another, even across generations.

And often, it’s these intangible things that shape how we make financial decisions over time.

Wishing everyone a meaningful remainder of Hari Raya 🌙

This is how habits (and wealth) are built. 🌱

Between February and March, I started a simple Calendar Challenge with my son.

Each day, he earns a sticker, a stamp, a star and $1 when he:
– performs his daily prayers
– reads his Iqra’
– practises toilet training

At first, it was just to build habits.

But along the way… it became so much more.

He started asking:
“Ibu, should I save my money or buy something?”

Sometimes, he would even say he wanted to buy things for me 🥹

When his savings reached $100, we deposited it in the bank.

He came home, showed me his empty wallet and said:
“Ibu… I no more money.”

And I realised… this was another lesson.

That money can be kept safely, even when we don’t see it.

Of course, he still spent some of it.

A $10 kiddy car ride 🚗
A $5 Cars balloon 🎈

Just simple things that made him happy.

One day, we missed his Iqra’ reading… and he cried.

Not because of the reward.
But because it mattered to him.

And recently, when he was sick, I told him:
“It’s okay… you can rest.”

Because I’m learning too…

It’s not just about discipline.
It’s about balance, compassion and building love for what we do.

SubhanAllah…

Parenting is never just about routines.

It’s about nurturing habits, values and mindset — little by little, every day 🤍

2016 → 2026: A Decade of Growth

In 2016, I was juggling a double degree in Accounting & Finance while working full-time at IRAS. Days blurred from work to evening classes, with long commutes home. I flunked Corporate Law and Treasury Management, but those lessons stayed with me and quietly prepared me for real-world leadership.

That year, I also gave financial literacy talks with my AAM team, blogged in iFinance Journey, and even learned to drive just before my birthday. Spiritually, it was unforgettable—I went on my first Umrah with my family, a memory I still treasure.

Looking back, the years after graduating from NYP in 2013 were about exploration. Experience mattered most to me, but with guidance from my parents and lecturer, I realised that credibility amplifies experience—a lesson that shaped my career journey.

Since then, I’ve worked with business owners, served on a Rotary Club as Board of Directors, and now advise corporate clients—always with the hope that my knowledge benefits others and becomes saham akhirat.

Entering 2026, I don’t know exactly what’s ahead. But alhamdulillah, my business is stable, my team and systems aligned, and I can adjust my pace according to my energy. If 2016 was about endurance and foundations, 2026 feels like a comeback in full force, bringing experience, service, and faith together.

Here’s to continuing the journey—learning, sharing, and growing, one intentional step at a time.

2025: A Year of Growth & Gratitude ✨

2025 was full of challenges, lessons, and small victories.

💔 Experienced grief and loss, yet found joy in my son’s growth — curious, expressive, and trilingual.

💼 Professionally, I focused on building meaningful client relationships, learning new skills, and strengthening systems.
- Weekly prospecting & networking
- Streamlined client experiences with Merlin

Lessons this year:
- Boundaries protect heart and business 💛
- Consistency matters more than perfection
- Motherhood is a strength
- Investing in yourself compounds growth

Grateful for every connection, lesson, and moment of resilience.
Looking ahead to 2026 with Steady Growth & Grace 🌱

PS: Picture of a snail that I got my son to count whenever we see it on the way to school or back home. Just like the snail, Slow, Steady, and Resilient - moving forward one step at a time. 🐌

Finding Clarity Through Loss: Lessons in Estate Planning and Family

Life sometimes teaches us lessons in the hardest ways. Recently, my family and I experienced profound loss — and in the process, I saw firsthand how preparation, care, and love can bring peace during grief 🌿.

The past few days have been an emotional whirlwind 😔. My father-in-law returned to his Creator last Saturday night, followed by the passing of my husband’s grandaunt on Monday morning. Two losses in such a short time reminded us how fragile life truly is.

After the funeral, my husband, his siblings and I found ourselves navigating the next steps — settling estate matters, clearing debts, fidyah, closing accounts, and informing various organisations 📝. It was our first time going through this, and I’m deeply grateful to my team, especially and my mentor , for guiding me through the death claims process 🙏.

Alhamdulillah, within a few days, things became clearer and more organised ✨. What truly gave us peace of mind was realising how much difference proper planning makes. The same Estate Planning Checklist I’ve been sharing with clients turned out to be our compass in real life — helping us stay grounded, systematic, and united as a family during a difficult time 🤍.

This experience reaffirmed something I’ve always believed: estate planning is not just about assets and documents. It’s about love 💕, responsibility, and ensuring that our loved ones can grieve in peace, not in confusion.

Alhamdulillah for the clarity, the unity, and the lessons 🙌. May our late loved ones be granted Jannah 🌸, and may our experiences serve as a reminder to prepare with ihsan, for the sake of those we love 🤍.

📋 🤍 🌿 ✨

PS: Thank you to everyone especially my team, clients, family, friends and connections for the condolences, support and prayers during this period in time. Appreciate it alot and I know I’m really blessed to have all of you. Alhamdulillah.
