Thanks to for the opportunity to share an article I wrote about planning for the unexpected as a single parent. It might give chills to some, imagine I am the only one left and yet I still have to think about the unexpected.

Fear, is something I am learnt and am learning to co-exist with. It will always be there, fear. Instead of not doing anything or ignoring it, I take deep breaths and baby steps in planning for the unexpected events. Instead of letting fear overwhelme me, I am choosing my own fear instead of it choosing me. Why I say that?

I choose the fear, to face the fear of it actually happening and thinking about the various scenarios. Instead of letting fear choose me by crippling me on taking the next step. Either way, fear is present: to create something from the fear I choose to take on, or the fear of the events I shudder to think and render me immobility.

Sometimes you feel it is just a harmless wind downs you felt you have worked hard, saved much this week, so it is okay to spend on yourself a little.
However, without proper budgeting, just like for everything else, depending on your “estimation” and “feel” to spend is not wise.
Check if you can carve out a budget for those moment to splurge.
Make hobbies and stress relief activities a planned spending and not based on feelings, or they might be the reason you are not saving enough for tomorrow.

I’m starting to list down my of my life, documenting the milestones of taking it

There is no such thing as too small too insignificant or unimportant. It is only as it is .

My aim is to declutter and reduce, and also recreate and create.

Few months ago, I was introduced to Charmaine who blogs on https://thesupercharmedlife.substack.com.

It was a delight to answer her questions as they were well-thought and in depth.

If after reading my response to her and if you like to be introduced to write a piece, she is looking for people whom have a story or passion to share.

It could be your business, it could be your hobby, or even a story on how something that changed you, let me know! I’ll be happy to link you up.

I feel I’m fortunate to be born in Singapore. As a single parent, you have no idea how bringing kids up is possible because of my country.

My kids have mandatory education, schools within near distance, after school care to make full time working possible.

A CPF account that forces me to save, making housing possible, assessable and affordable transportation, a safe place so my kids can play in the playground after school and weekends without the fear of them being kidnap.

Hawkers and food centres makes meals possible despite not having time to work, or online shops where I can do deliveries of almost everything I need, from food, household items, groceries… etc.

I didn’t earn it, I am just lucky to be born here, and what I’ve got is more than what an ex-spouse provides. All is made possible, to bring p kids safe and made work possible because of Singapore.

Happy birthday, Singapore!

Thank you for being my home.
