We caught Greg Krasnov , CEO of Tonik, speaking at Seamless Asia 2024 on digital banking. Apart from Greg's impeccable sense of humor, what stood out from the panel were the areas why digital banks like Tonik prevail over traditional banks.

1. Operational cost is much lower due to agile adoption of technologies. These savings are then passed on to the customers, offering more affordable products.

2. Credit scorecards can be derived for the unbanked population. This improves financial inclusion and can be life changing for some.

3. Seamless customer experience. At the end of the day, it really comes down to the ease of use of the products.

Excited to see Tonik's continuous growth and learnings in the Philippines!

1. Software should serve people
Being the building blocks of technology and frequently, the interface with humans, software must make things easier for people.

2. Have a globalisation mindset from the onset
Software is not limited by physical boundaries. It is beneficial to have a global mindset, and start building partnerships and nurture relationships early on.

These were 2 keys points shared by Joyce, General Partner, at the Focus on Software panel at Women's Private Equity Summit APAC 2024 last week.

Together with Tharani Prakash (The Radical Fund), Bo Gao (AI Club Asia), Ritu Verma (Ankur Capital) and Prof Annie Koh (SMU), the conversation emphasized the human and collaborative aspects of building impactful software. Thank you for having us With Intelligence, and we look forward to more of such events in the future!

Within a backdrop of macroeconomics volatility and decline funding activities, the FinTech sector is still optimistic about growth in the sector. Many companies are taking this opportunity to reorganise and manage their operating cost, while optimising their team for commercialisation and profitability.
