Zendesk Chat (formerly Zopim) former Founder Royston Tay is now embarking on new TravelTech venture called GoTrippin, which is built on anticipation of rising travel demands post Covid-19 border restriction.

Royston Tay and his two business partners are optimistic that travel startups will thrive after the pandemic ends.

His former venture Zopim was acquired by San Francisco-based customer service company Zendesk for US$30 million in 2014.

Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC has reportedly invest USD 295 Million for a 9% stakes in Indonesia's fully digital Bank, Bank Jago through Bank Jago's rights issuance subscription in March 2021.

GIC Group Chief Investment Officer Jeffrey Jaensubhakij said in Nikkei Asia that many of the region's tech companies will focus on Vietnam and Indonesia -- with young populations and relatively low gross domestic product, or GDP, per capita -- markets before moving on to the others.

Those markets are well positioned for post-pandemic growth as they benefit from regional supply chain readjustments as well as digital technology leapfrogging, which have accelerated throughout the pandemic.

"We expect that (the technology sector) to do well in the next few years," he said.

Silver Lake is in talk to complete a USD 750 Million investment in Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited.

The deal if happened will follow in Facebook's earlier footsteps which had agreed to invest USD 5.7 Billion for a 10% stakes in the company valuing it at USD 57 Billion.

Silver lake investment will value Jio at USD 65 Billion, which reflect a 12.5% premium over Facebook's valuation.
