As a part-time teacher, I frequently think about what truly makes someone stand out. And honestly—degrees? They are a very small part of the whole story.

What really matters is skills, initiative, endless curiosity, and the willingness to make a difference.

With Artificial Intelligence in its early innings, people's ability & hunger to do something meaningful is more important than their credentials. As a small business owner, I FULLY support it.

We should celebrate skills and curiosity over degrees & paperwork.

Elon Musk: Misunderstood and Polarizing

Elon Musk is one of the most polarizing and misunderstood figures of our time. What drives someone like him? Most people think it’s money or power—but is that it?

I watched this video by Walter Isaacson, who literally spent two years following Musk everywhere while writing his biography. He sat in on meetings, visited factories, and even spoke to Musk’s friends, family, and enemies. If anyone has insight, it’s this guy.

Isaacson isn’t a Musk fanboy—he’s been super critical of him in a lot of interviews. So, it’s not like he’s out there hyping Elon up. But even with all the criticism, he talks about what actually fuels Musk, and it’s pretty fascinating.

Walter Isaacson wrote Steve Job's biography as well...

I’ve always been inspired by disruptors, change-makers, and innovators—those who dare to go against the grain and create lasting impact for the greater good. So, bumping into Tony Fernandes, the visionary CEO of AirAsia, at Orchard today was an absolute delight. ✨

Tony transformed an ailing airline into one of Asia's most successful low-cost carriers, revolutionizing the aviation industry in the process. His work made air travel affordable for millions and opened up new routes that once seemed impossible. 🌍✈️

His humility was evident. He took the time to chat with a stranger.

A lot of people did not reach the office on the fateful day of 11 September 2001. Some were struck in traffic ..some fell sick. That event changed their lives

Was it a chance or was it something more?

Such chances come and go in everybody's life. we accept them. we reject them. Rarely do we acknowledge and build on them. Famous Psychologist Carl Jung called such events "synchronicity" (circumstances that appear meaningfully related yet lack a causal connection)

I talk to DR PHILIP MERRY SynchronicityCoach who has done a Ph.D. in Synchronicity. he started his Ph.D. at 63. Clearly, something fascinated him...something touched him at the deepest level to pursue a doctorate on the topic.

1) He explains why he got interested in this concept. He gives examples that made him think along these lines.

2) His new book decodes Synchronicity. He explains how could we acknowledge and take advantage of such events

3) Synchronicity is a powerful arsenal for leaders in the new era and how can they incorporate and broaden their leadership influence.

Please do comment on what you think. You can hear this on apple, Spotify, and Google as well. Type in Building Wealth With Rajeev

VALUE INVESTING : A MASTERCLASS

Rarely does it happen when 50 minutes chat feels like a warm-up. This discussion was exactly that. More than anything else ...this reflects the depth that the interviewee has. in this case Prof. Sanjay Bakshi. Prof Bakshi is a very well-known value investor. Besides being an investor himself, Prof Bakshi is a Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Behavioral Finance at the Flame University of India. Several gems were thrown by prof Bakshi when he discussed Value Investing. Mentioned below, these are life-changing learnings:

1) Life is probabilistic and so are investments. Thinking Probabilistic is critical for Investment success.

2) For investment success, fear has to be a friend of a value investor. it Helps accumulate businesses at an attractive value.

3) History is one of the best teachers. Over time, Actors change but the picture remains the same.

4)Huge asymmetry between success and failure. There are many ways to succeed. There are only a few ways to fail spectacularly. So avoiding dumb behavior is equally critical.

5) any business is an evolving movie and not a still picture.

6) Leverage can make you look like a hero in a bull market. But you can go from hero to zero when a bear market strikes. You don’t have to p*e on an electric fence to learn not to do it :)

7) Warren Buffett's letters are the best investment books available for free.

My aha moment was when prof Bakshi compared value investing learnings to the spiritual teaching of Hindu, and Buddhist scriptures.

Minimizing Loss aversion = Equanimity
No commitment bias = Detachment
Business moats eroding over time = Impermanence

Purpose, Sense of fulfillment, and Resilience

I talk to Julie Lewis (Julie Lewis). She is on a mission to help individuals and organizations to be the best version of themselves through speaking, teaching, retreats, and expeditions.

A few key highlights from the chat:

1) DIG IN YOURSELF: What are your emotional priorities? What brings you joy? Knowing yourself, checking with yourself

2) SHOULD OR WANT: Replacing “Should” with “Want” is a good purpose hack. (I SHOULD do this - I WANT to do this)

3) EVOLVE: You may have an overarching purpose. Then there is a way of doing it…which changes over time. Please refer to Julie’s own journey which she started as a fitness consultant and then evolved from Body - Body & mind - Body, mind & Soul, and so on…

4) YOU OR WORLD: Changing the world is a noble thought. However, “Changing Yourself” is even better ;) It starts with Self Love…Self Care

5) YIN AND YANG: Stand like Mountain, Flow like Water. There are times when we need to stand strong like a mountain (Yang).. there are times when we need to let go and go with the flow (Yin). Hear the interview for more details

Purpose, sense of fulfillment, and resilience are all important elements of holistic life. Let Julie Guide you to be a better version of yourself. Julie Lewi...
