Yesterday, Bright Sunday had the pleasure of hosting a session with 30 EPC professionals in Porto, where we discussed Solar PPAs in Self-Consumption mode and Solar Sales Leaseback. A big thank you to all the participants for making the day fantastic!

On Thursday 12th, CLS togehter with the Embassy of Sweden, Corporate- and Individual Members and Non-members all gathered in the beautiful setting of Palácio Fronteira for CLS Julbord - the Traditional Swedish Christmas Lunch, which we organize annualy in honor of the Lúcia holiday.

Our new client J3LP is a supplier to the luxury fashion brand Hermès. This naturally means high demand on the quality of their products. But also that consumers these days expect the high price tag to come with benefits that go well beyond timeless style and high quality, such as sustainable production and materials.

This is where Bright Sunday comes in to the picture. How is that? Well, the solar panels we just installed at J3LP’s facility in Fundão will cover 22% of the company’s electricity consumption.

Well all know sustainability these days is high fashion. Thanks to this cooperation, high fashion is no further on it’s way to becoming more sustainable.

OS Belenenses is a football club in the Primeira Liga in Portugal. Bright Sunday together with our partner SPlux have not only been able to change all lighting to LED, significantly lowering OS Belenenses energy consumption, we did it free of charge. No cost whatsoever. The reason for this is that we’re also installing 550 kWp of solar panels on their training facilities in the stadium area.

The energy produced will be used by Portuguese consumers, paying for OS Belenenses LED-lighting in the process. As a part of this project, OS Belenenses will also replace their washing machines and dryers, that today run on gas, to newer equipment that run on electricity.

As you may know football is close to religion in Portugal, so we take great pride in helping OS Belenenses. But to make sure we don’t favour any particular team, we’ve also installed solar panels and LED at Vitoria Setubal. This way both teams can be sure that whoever wins, they are part of a club with a significantly lower CO2 footprint.

Bright Sunday is funding cleantech for companies and yesterday many media outlets in Portugal and Spain shared our plans for the future. Among them Negócios, which is one of the largest media focused on economy and business. In case you don’t read Portuguese the article tells the story about how we let companies lower their CO2 footprint with zero upfront investment and savings from day one. It also mentions that we aim to invest MEUR 250 in the coming years. Yes, it’s ok to be excited about this!

We are extremely proud to announce our partnership with Innoliva, one of the leading producers of olive oil in the World (check out their website for more info on innovation, awards etc: https://innoliva.com/innovation/).

The company owns more than 5 000 hectars of irrigated olive groves in Portugal and Spain. And not only do they produce some of the best olive oil in the World, they take their sustainability work very seriously.

As a part of that focus on innovation and sustainability Bright Sunday has financed solar panels that are now installed among the olive trees and on the roof of one of the company’s oil mills. So now, not only does the sun help Innoliva make exquisite olive oil, it also produces a substantial part of the energy necessary for the modern production process.

The leading financial daily of the Nordics, Dagens Industri, yesterday was first outlet to report that we have secured a major investment from seven of Sweden’s most recognized investors during summer. The injection of 8 MEUR increased the value of our company tenfold, and will enable us to increase the speed of our expansion and thereby cut CO2 emissions even more rapidly. One first step will be to branch out operations to Spain in November.

Some excerpts from yesterday’s article:

– We are extremely happy to see such competent and experienced investors, who have built very successful companies of their own, come onboard as partners. It’s a sign off on our business model and expansion strategy by very credible players, says Niklas Engström, CEO and one of the founders of Bright Sunday.

”We are now aiming to invest at least 250 MEUR during the coming four years while delivering a positive net result. Moving into Spain, one of Europe’s biggest and most important market for solar energy will be one first important step in reaching that goal, says Niklas Engström.”
