Enforcement Powers
Effective aviation oversight also requires the authority to take appropriate action when aviation laws, regulations or safety requirements are not complied with.
Under the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) Act, 2024, SCAA Inspectors, Authorised Officers and Authorised Persons are granted enforcement powers to take necessary regulatory action to address non-compliance and protect the safety and security of civil aviation.
These powers may be used where, for example, a licence or certificate holder is no longer meeting the required conditions, a serious safety concern is identified, or an aviation activity is being conducted in breach of applicable requirements. Depending on the circumstances, enforcement action may include restricting or preventing the exercise of privileges under an aviation licence, certificate or other aviation document.
Why it matters: Enforcement powers help ensure that safety concerns and instances of non-compliance are addressed effectively. They help prevent unsafe practices from continuing and support a safe, secure and compliant aviation sector in Seychelles.
