Tina River Hydro Project The Tina River Hydro Development Project (TRHDP) is a National Project of Solomon Islands.

The TRHDP is part of a broader initiative called Solomon Islands Sustainable Energy Project, SISEP, and has as its objective the provision of electricity for Honiara from indigenous renewable energy sources(hydro) to provide more affordable and reliable energy options to the capital.

The Project Office and Tina Hydropower Limited joined the Powerhouse landowning tribes and government representatives to honour Guadalcanal customary reconciliation protocol, culminating in a Memorandum of Understanding signing.

📜Central Guadalcanal, 28 July 2026 — The Tina River Hydropower Development Project has taken a decisive and proactive step in honouring the customary land rights of affected tribes and rebuilding trust following the successful conduct of a Chupu Ceremony at the Powerhouse Site.

🤝 The ceremony brought together the Roha and Gaegae Tribes, surrounding communities, government representatives, Tina Hydropower Limited, Hyundai Engineering Company, and key stakeholders, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

To complete your registration, please follow these simple steps:

✅ Obtain a passport-size photo from any photo shop in town.
✅ Have the photo certified by a lawyer on the back.
✅ Submit the certified photo to the Solomon Power Office for registration.

Solomon Power has advised that these arrangements are now acceptable and will allow community members without formal ID documents to proceed with registration. The timeline for customer connections will depend on community members completing these requirements.
