We recently caught up with Matilda Dani Diake from MLHS, and asked her if she could share her thoughts and experiences with our vehicle tracking services.
''My name is Matilda, and I work with the Ministry of Lands, Housing & Survey, under the Corporate Service Division.
Before we started using GPS monitoring, managing our vehicle movements was quite challenging. We would have scheduled trips written on the board, but sometimes vehicles would be delayed and we had no way of knowing exactly where they were. We could make phone calls, but that meant relying on what the driver told us, and over time we also noticed that these trips were contributing to higher fuel costs.
We hoped that having our vehicles tracked would make a difference in the way they were being used. We felt that simply knowing the vehicles were being monitored would encourage drivers to be more mindful and responsible when using government vehicles.
Since we started using SkyEye's GPS monitoring system, we have seen a real difference. Our vehicles are being used more wisely, and we no longer need to constantly call drivers just to ask ''Ufala lo wea nao?''. We can see their location, which makes it much easier for us to manage our daily logistics. We have also seen a significant improvement in our fuel expenses because unnecessary trips have been reduced.
One experience that the tracking really helped was when one of our division teams had to travel far outside Honiara to a village area in the jungle for a couple of days. It was during the rainy season, mobile network and internet connection were not working properly. Even though we could not communicate with them, we were reassured because through the tracking system we could still see where the vehicle was. For us, that peace of mind was very important.
I believe a GPS monitoring system like this is valuable for Government Ministries and any organization that manages vehicles. It can help reduce fuel costs, provide evidence of how vehicles are being used, discourage vehicle misuse, improve logistics, and most importantly, give you a sense of security knowing that your assets are always in sight.''
