The Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI), in partnership with Inclusion last week, hosted the first-ever National Digital Financial Literacy Content Hub Stakeholder Workshop at the Heritage Park Hotel, Honiara.

The workshop brought together financial institutions, mobile network operators, government agencies, development partners, and sector stakeholders to shape the future of digital financial education across Solomon Islands.

CBSI Financial Systems and Development and Payments, Chief Manager Danial Haridi noted, digital financial literacy is one of the critical pillars of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy 2021โ€“2025, the development of a national content hub is both timely and essential as our financial system continues to digitalise.

This initiative is supported by CBSI and jointly delivered with the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP with the goal of ensuring all Solomon Islanders can safely and confidently use digital financial services.

The Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI), in partnership with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) and the World Bank, hosted a regional stakeholder workshop on Correspondent Banking Relationships last month.

The workshop brought together representatives from government, the financial sector, and private sector stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, deepen understanding of current challenges, and identify practical solutions to safeguard the Pacific's financial connectivity.

As Deputy Governor Raynold Moveni reminded participants "At its core, the issue of correspondent banking is about connectivity our ability, as small island economies, to remain fully integrated into the global financial system."

CBSI remains committed to maintaining confidence in our financial system and ensuring Solomon Islands continues to be a credible and reliable participant in the global financial network.

The Central Bank of Solomon Islands has launched its 2025 Annual Report, with Governor Dr Luke Forau sharing an important message about the countryโ€™s economic future.

โ€ข The economy grew by 3.6%
โ€ข Inflation dropped to 1.6%
โ€ข Foreign reserves remained strong

Governor highlighted that while we are growing, it is not fast or broad enough to meet the needs of our people.

This means building an economy that:

The Central Bank of Solomon Islands last week convened financial institutions, government agencies, and development partners for the Inclusive Green Finance Roadmap Validation Workshop in Honiara.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders to review and validate the Solomon Islands Inclusive Green Finance Roadmap 2026โ€“2030, which aims to strengthen climate resilience while expanding access to financial services across the country.

Opening the workshop, Governor Dr. Luke Forau emphasized that the financial sector has a critical role to play in supporting communities and businesses facing growing climate risks.
The roadmap outlines practical steps to:
โœ… Strengthen awareness and capacity within the financial sector on green finance
โœ…Expand access to financial products such as renewable energy loans, climate resilient housing finance, and sustainable agriculture credit
โœ…Scale up climate responsive insurance solutions to protect vulnerable communities.

The roadmap is being developed with support from the Greening the Pacific Financial Systems (GPFS) programme, implemented by the GGGI Pacific in partnership with CBSI and supported by the AFD - Agence Franรงaise de Dรฉveloppement

The validation workshop provides an opportunity for stakeholders to ensure that the roadmap is practical, implementable, and aligned with the needs of the Solomon Islands financial sector.

CBSI looks forward to continuing collaboration with financial institutions, development partners, and stakeholders as the roadmap moves toward finalization and implementation.
