There is a high demand from Americans, Scandinavians, and Eastern Europeans, among others, who are fleeing instability in Eastern Europe. Many of them work for foreign companies and earn between 5 to 10 times the average national wage.

Currently, due to the difficulty in finding rental options in more central areas, foreigners are beginning to look for housing farther from the city center, in areas like Benfica, Telheiras, Lumiar, Carnide, among others.
