A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in Cannes yesterday for our Taxand networking evening at MIPIM 2025, the world’s largest real estate conference!

Despite a slight chill in the Cannes air, the warmth of the company more than made up for it. We were delighted to see such a strong turnout once again, with a full room, lively conversations, beautiful views and a brilliant atmosphere throughout the evening.

It’s always a highlight of the week, and we’re grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the event so memorable.

Warmest Wishes for the holiday season ✨

As we approach the end of 2025 and the holiday season, we would like to extend our sincerest thanks to our clients and Taxand colleagues around the world. Your continued trust, enthusiasm and engagement have made this another outstanding year for Taxand Global.

2025 has been a particularly significant year, marking the 20th anniversary of our organisation, an important milestone that reflects two decades of growth, expertise and global collaboration.

Throughout the year, it has been so inspiring to see clients and Taxand colleagues connect and achieve great things together, whether in person at our conferences in Berlin, Zurich and Bangkok, or through the many initiatives and projects that have brought our global community together. The commitment, teamwork, and shared purpose made 2025 another year to be proud of.

We could not close this momentous anniversary year without a very special mention for our founder and Chairman, Frederic Donnedieu de Vabres. It was at Frédéric’s initiative 20 years ago that a group of entrepreneurial international colleagues came together with a shared belief in his vision and so, Taxand was born.

Under Frédéric’s leadership we have all grown and flourished. Words alone do not sufficiently convey the gratitude to be expressed as we wish Frédéric the very best of luck as he embarks on in his own new chapter in the new year, he himself being the first to remind us that he is not retiring! A huge thank you to you Frédéric.

🌍🇱🇺🇩🇪 As part of the Taxand Lexchange Secondment Program, ATOZ – Taxand Luxembourg welcomed Philipp Anhalt, Associate from Flick Gocke Schaumburg – Taxand Germany. Philipp spent 4 weeks in Luxembourg, working alongside ATOZ teams and discovering the country’s unique international tax environment.

What a wonderful evening in Lisbon!

A heartfelt “obrigado” to our colleagues at Garrigues Portugal for graciously hosting a cocktail reception at their office for Taxand IFA delegates this week.

The event brought together “IFA Taxanders” for a fantastic opportunity to reconnect and reflect on the key themes of this year’s Congress, taking place this week in Lisbon.

This year, Taxand is proud to have a 70-strong delegation at IFA 2025 - many of whom made sure to include a visit to the team in Lisbon, while also taking the opportunity to connect in person with Taxanders from around the world, as part of their Congress agenda.

Thank you once again to our hosts in Portugal: António Pedro Braga, Pedro Miguel Braz, Isabel Reis, Miguel Pimentel, Mariana Martins Silva, Mafalda Moreira and team for your warm welcome and excellent hospitality.

A “Dream Team” of Taxand footballers took to the pitch this summer at the Twobirds.cup in Düsseldorf – a charity tournament hosted by Bird & Bird.

Sixteen teams from across the legal profession competed, combining sporting ambition with support for a good cause: the “Sport statt Straße” project of DJK Agon 08.

Players included Arthur Michaud (ATOZ, Luxembourg), Petar Kadović (LeitnerLeitner, Serbia), and the Flick Gocke Schaumburg players: Endrit Baftija, Jonas Barthel, Dennis Barzantny, Nils Häck, Fabian Miehlich, Peter Reingen, Alexander Wehner, René Wilgo, and Tim Zinowsky.

Tournament Highlights ⚽️

🏆 Group winners (undefeated!)
🔥 A tense Quarter-final thriller – 2:1 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out against “Richterschaft Düsseldorf”
💪 Semi-finalists against the eventual champions, YPOG.

Beyond the goals, it was the team spirit and international camaraderie that made the day so special.

Around the table — and across borders 🤝 🌍

The tax team from Travers Smith, Taxand’s UK member firm, recently welcomed colleagues from ATOZ Tax Advisers, our member firm in Luxembourg, to its weekly technical meeting for a focused session on VAT and Luxembourg investment funds — a topic of particular relevance given the team’s expertise in asset management-related matters.

The discussion was led by the VAT team at ATOZ Tax Advisers with valuable insights from Thibaut Boulangé, Partner in charge of the VAT practice, Justine Guilluy, Director at ATOZ and F***y BUEB, Direct Tax Partner.

The Travers Smith tax team holds weekly meetings to explore key technical topics, often welcoming speakers from other jurisdictions. This session offered an excellent opportunity to share knowledge and exchange views on the VAT treatment of Luxembourg funds.

A great example of how collaboration — around the table and across borders — strengthens both our technical thinking and our relationships.

This year’s edition of Junior Partner Taxandays began yesterday in the dynamic city of Berlin, joined by over 40 junior Taxand Partners from more than 20 Taxand member firms—just ahead of our 2025 Global Conference starting tomorrow!

Our opening day set the tone for two days of collaboration and growth. Partners had the chance to connect through engaging speed networking sessions, getting to know each other and their fellow Taxand member firms.

The afternoon took us out into the heart of Berlin for a spirited team-building adventure. During the challenge participants explored the city’s iconic landmarks while working together on a fun, interactive task. It was a great way to spark teamwork and connection from the outset.

We wrapped up the day with a relaxed evening reception—offering another chance to build relationships and reflect on the day’s experiences.

Today, a rich programme of masterclasses is underway - focused on leadership development, client excellence, business development, and much more.
