Guided Visit to the Electricity Factory 🏭 Every weekend, the MAAT opens the doors of the Central Tejo, a thermoelectric power station built in 1908 that supplied electricity to the entire Lisbon region for most of the 20th century. Guided tours take visitors through the original machinery, still in perfect condition, and through the History of Energy exhibition and the Laboratory of Inventions. DocLisboa 🎬 Now in its 24th edition, this international documentary film festival runs from 15 to 25 October across the Cinema São Jorge, Cinemateca Portuguesa, Cinema Ideal and Culturgest. This year’s programme features 198 films from 51 countries, with 34 world premieres.

Avó 🍲 A new restaurant in Campo de Ourique that opened as a tribute to traditional Portuguese home cooking. A short, seasonal menu built around honest, unpretentious dishes: the kind that take time to make and even longer to forget. One of the most personal openings of the season.

A Terra Cota 🌱 A new farm-to-table restaurant at the Moxy Alfragide Lisboa hotel, with a contemporary menu that changes with the seasons and works closely with Portuguese producers. From marinated Azorean fish to roasted new carrots with sheep’s curd, the kitchen stays close to the land. The name says it all: where flavour begins.

Lisboa Fashion Week 🧵 From 7 to 11 October, ModaLisboa returns for its 67th edition, bringing together established and emerging Portuguese designers through runway shows, presentations, workshops and exhibitions spread across the city. One of the most important weeks in the Portuguese fashion calendar.

Origem 🫕 A new opening on Calçada da Ajuda in Belém, set inside a 17th-century former royal stable. The selection was made through a poll conducted by Time Out among tens of thousands of people and local experts from around the world, who compiled a ranking of the top culinary of the moment.

86% of Lisbon residents rated the food scene positively, with 63% agreeing that eating out isn’t too expensive. When asked what they would most recommend in the city, most respondents chose the shops.

Lisbon ranked tenth on Time Out’s 2026 list, just behind London and Ho Chi Minh City, and ahead of Naples and New York.

The top three spots are held by Lima, Bangkok, and Mexico City.
