M***i Taqi Usmani Sahib was born on 5 Oct 1943. He is a famous Pakistani Islamic scholar and former judge who is the current president of Wifaq Ul Madaris Al-Arabia and the vice president and Hadith professor at Darul Uloom Karachi. He wrote 143 books in different languages including Urdu, Arabic, and English. He has translated the Holy Qur'an in both Urdu and English and also worked on Sahih Muslim, Takmilat Fath Al Mulhim, and Uloom-I-Qur'an. He owns the Shariah Board of Bahrain-based AAOIFI and is a permanent member of the Jeddah-based IIFA, an organ of OIC. He has also served as a judge of the Shariah bench of the Supreme Court from 1982 to 2002 and the Federal Shariah Court from 1981 to 1982. He was also a member of Zia's Council of Islamic Ideology from 1977 to 1981.
Early Life and Education: He was born in the city of Deoband, British India, and was the son of M***i Muhammad Shafi. Their family claims the Nisbat Uthmani. His grandfather was teaching Persian at Darul Uloom Deoband. His father taught there for several decades and held the post of chief M***i. In 1948 when Usmani was 4 years old, his father migrated from Deoband to Karachi, Pakistan. Since there was not any Madrasah, Usmani's primary education was completed at home. In 1950 he enrolled in Darul Uloom Karachi when his father founded it. He got these degrees Dars-i-Nizami(1953), Fazil-i Arabi(1958), and Alimiyyah(1959) from Darul Uloom Karachi. He also obtained his specialization degree in Fiqh and Ifta from the same Madrasah. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in economics and politics, and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Karachi. He got his Master of Arts in Arabic and Literature from the University of Punjab.
Teachers: He received teaching licenses to teach Hadith from Islamic scholars including Muhammad Shafi, Muhammad Idris Kandhlawi, Qari Muhammad Tayyib, Saleemullah Khan, Rashid Ahmad Lidhianvi, Sahban Mahmud, Zafar Ahmad Usmani, Muhammad Zakariya Kandhlavi, Hasan al-Mahshat Al-Maliki, Abdul Azeez Ibn Baz Al-Maliki, Abd al-Fattah Abu Ghuddah, Abi Al-Faid Muhammad Yasin Al-Fadani Ash-Shafi'i, and others.
Islamic Economics: He established Meezan Bank and also has a great role in Islamic economics, Islamic banking, the Hadith Encyclopedia, and the jurisprudence of trade, and he translated the Holy Qur'an in English and detailed Tafseer of the Qur'an in English.
He is famous for his Islamic banking and Finance works worldwide.

2022: The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre ranks Usmani 6th in the 2023 edition of the 500 most influential Muslims.
2022: Sitara-i Imtiaz from the president.
2019: ranks 1st in 500 most influential Muslims.
2017: ranks 2nd in the global Islamic financial industry.
2017: Lifetime achievement award, IFEA from COMSATS.
2016: Lifetime achievement award, IFFSA.
2014: IDP prize in IB&F.
2011: King Abdullah 2 Award.
2011: Lifetime Achievement Award, Islamic Business and Finance Magazine.
2010: Wisam al-Istiqlal, conferred by the king of Jordan.
2004: Emir Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award.
NOTE: He currently teaches Sahih Al Bukhari and Islamic economics at Darul Uloom Karachi.
