RELEASE OF THE BUREAU’S ANNUAL BROCHURE “PUNJAB IN FIGURES 2025”
The Bureau of Statistics (BoS), Punjab, has launched the latest edition of “Punjab in Figures 2025”, an annual statistical brochure presenting key indicators related to the province's social, economic, administrative, and financial profile. The publication provides consolidated and sector-wise statistics at the provincial level, along with comparative information on important sectors, including Population, Education, Health, and Labour Force, for both Punjab and Pakistan. The brochure serves as a concise statistical reference for policymakers, planners, researchers, academia, government departments, and other stakeholders.
The latest edition also incorporates key findings of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) Punjab 2024, highlighting important socio-economic indicators relating to Education, Health, Housing Characteristics, Water & Sanitation, Nutrition, Child Protection, and Reproductive Health. NEW DIRECTOR GENERAL MS. REHANA FARHAT TAKES OFFICE AT BUREAU OF STATISTICS PUNJAB
Lahore, April 28, 2026 - The Bureau of Statistics (BoS), Punjab, welcomed its newly appointed Director General, Ms. Rehana Farhat, who assumed charge of the office today. Shortly after taking over, she convened her first meeting with the Bureau's senior officers and directors. During the session, she was briefed in detail on ongoing activities, key projects, and the operational performance of BoS, Punjab's divisions.
Expressing satisfaction with the department’s performance, Ms. Farhat appreciated the dedication and professionalism of the officers and staff. She emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of efficiency, teamwork, and integrity, and urged employees to continue working with commitment to further improve the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of official statistics. DISSEMINATION of OFFICIAL PUBLICATIONS OF THE BUREAU OF STATISTICS, PUNJAB
The Bureau of Statistics (BOS), Punjab, serves as the central hub for statistical data in the province, tasked with collecting, processing, and disseminating data through publications and electronic media. BoS, Punjab has released its latest publications, providing valuable insights into the province's economy and development. The publications, available on the BOS website (www.bos.punjab.gov.pk), include i) Statistical Pocket Book of Punjab 2025, ii) Newsletter 2025, iii) Punjab Development Statistics 2024, iv) South Punjab Development Statistics 2024, and v) Punjab in Figures 2024. These publications offer data on various sectors, including gender-disaggregated statistics, district-wise breakdowns, and national data on key subjects.

VISIT OF NCSW TEAM TO BUREAU OF STATISTICS PUNJAB FOR FACILITATION ON FINALIZATION OF NATIONAL GENDER PARTITY FRAMEWORK
A technical team from the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) visited the Bureau of Statistics (BoS), Planning & Development Board, Government of the Punjab, on December 22, 2025. Director General BoS Punjab, Muhammad Ali Ammer, formally welcomed Ms. Umme Laila Azhar, Chairperson NCSW.

A technical session, chaired by Ms. Umme Laila Azhar, was held in the BoS Committee Room to discuss data requirements and challenges related to the National Gender Parity Report Framework. Key attendees included Mr. Usman Ali Khan, Secretary, Women Development Department (WDD); Mr. M. Waheed Iqbal, Director, Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW); Mr. Imtiaz Ahmad, Joint Chief Economist, Planning & Development Board, and other stakeholders.

The discussions focused on NCSW's national-level data needs from all provinces, including Punjab, highlighting challenges such as misaligned survey timelines that impede accurate national comparisons.

Mr. Aftab Afridi, Data Analyst at NCSW, presented a detailed overview of existing data inconsistencies, gaps, and areas needing improvement to enable reliable, comparable gender parity reporting.

Director General Muhammad Ali Ammer, along with BoS officers, reaffirmed their full commitment to cooperation and the provision of relevant data. This proactive approach underscores BoS Punjab's key role in supporting evidence-based, gender-responsive planning for NCSW's National Gender Parity Report, which aims to deliver a unified and credible portrayal of gender equality in Pakistan.

DATAFEST 2025
The Bureau of Statistics (BoS) Punjab, being a premier Statistical Organization in the Province, actively participated in the DataFest 2025, organized by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Islamabad, on November 11–12, 2025, at the Pak-China Friendship Center, Islamabad. Centered on the theme “Numbers to Lives,” BoS, Punjab captivated attendees with a vibrant display stall showcasing its wide range of regular publications and the survey reports, highlighting Punjab’s strong data framework and its essential role in informed policymaking.
A delegation of officers under the leadership of the Director General, BoS Punjab, attended the DataFest 2025. Five officers from the BoS, Punjab, delivered insightful presentations on different topics of data and its use. These engaging sessions highlighted BoS, Punjab's expertise in statistical excellence, digital advancement, and climate-informed strategies.

BUREAU OF STATISTICS, PUNJAB HOLDS QURAN KHAWANI IN MEMORY OF FORMER DIRECTOR GENERAL CH. SAJID RASUL
Lahore, October 8, 2025 – The Bureau of Statistics, Punjab, held a solemn Quran Khawani today at its headquarters to honor the memory and pray for the departed soul of its former Director General, Ch. Sajid Rasul. The ceremony was attended by the incumbent Director General, Mr. Muhammad Ali Ammer, former Director General Mr. Shamim Rafiq, and members of the late Ch. Sajid Rasul's family, as well as officers and officials of the Bureau. Speaking on the occasion, attendees paid heartfelt tribute to Ch. Sajid Rasul's distinguished career highlights his exceptional leadership and invaluable contributions to strengthening the Bureau's institutional capacity and statistical systems. They commended his unwavering commitment to public service and expressed profound sorrow at his passing. The gathering concluded with a collective prayer (Dua) for the elevation of his spiritual ranks in the hereafter and for granting patience and fortitude to the bereaved family.

MEHFIL-E-MILAD-E-MUSTAFA(ﷺ)
Like each year, on September 11, 2025, the Bureau of Statistics, Punjab, arranged a spiritually enriching Mehfil-e-Milad at the Bureau's Masjid Sirat-e-Mustaqeem to commemorate the birth of our beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). The event was graced by the esteemed Director General, Muhammad Ali Ammer, who served as the Chief Guest, while the Bureau's employees participated with profound devotion. The Mehfil commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a melodious and heartfelt Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (ﷺ). Allama Molana Ashraf Sirajwi Sahib delivered an inspiring address, paying homage to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and explaining his significant impact on humanity. His eloquent address encapsulated the Prophet's (ﷺ) greatness, compassion, and mercy, serving as an affecting reminder of his timeless teachings. The Mehfil-e-Milad ended with Drood-o-Salam and a heartfelt ‘Dua’, pleading the well-being and peace of all mankind. The event not only elevated the spirits of those in attendance but also fostered a profound sense of unity and devotion, as all gathered to honor the beloved Prophet (ﷺ) with immense respect and affection.
