PROBATIONARY OFFICERS FROM CIVIL SERVICES ACADEMY VISIT BUREAU OF STATISTICS, PUNJAB
Lahore, July 21, 2026 – Four Probationary Officers, attached to the Planning & Development Board by the Civil Services Academy, visited the Bureau of Statistics (BoS), Punjab, today to gain an insight into the functions and statistical activities of the Bureau. The officers met with the Director General, BoS Punjab, who warmly welcomed them and highlighted the important role of the Bureau in producing reliable and timely statistics to support evidence-based planning and policymaking in Punjab.
Under the supervision of the worthy Director General, BoS Punjab, a comprehensive briefing was held in the Committee Room, covering the functions of BoS Punjab, major surveys conducted by the Bureau, survey methodologies, and an overview of the methodology for the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS), Punjab 2024. The Director and Deputy Directors of the BoS Headquarters office also briefed the visiting officers on the functions and key responsibilities of their respective sections. The visit concluded with a productive and interactive Q&A session, where the officers raised various questions and received detailed responses from the BoS team. The visiting officers appreciated the informative presentations and expressed their satisfaction with the comprehensive briefing and the valuable insights shared by the officers and leadership of BoS Punjab.

VISIT OF MR. RAMIZ BEHBUDOV, UNICEF CHIEF FIELD OFFICE
(CFO) PUNJAB TO THE BUREAU OF STATISTICS, PUNJAB
Lahore, May 19, 2026 – Mr. Ramiz Behbudov, UNICEF Chief Field Office (CFO) Punjab, visited the Bureau of Statistics (BoS), Punjab, Head Quarter Office, Lahore and commended the Bureau’s 25-year partnership and contributions to evidence-based policymaking through six successful rounds of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS), Punjab. The Director General, BoS Punjab, Ms. Rehana Farhat credited the achievement to the team’s dedication and professionalism, while the Director Mr. Shamas Ul Huda highlighted the Bureau’s in-house capacity for large-scale surveys using CAPI technology to deliver high-quality, timely data for decision-making and development planning. The visit reaffirmed UNICEF and the Bureau’s shared commitment to strengthening data-driven governance and sustainable development in Punjab.

ACADEMIC VISIT OF THE STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ASIA, LAHORE TO THE BUREAU OF STATISTICS, PUNJAB
Lahore, May 19, 2026 – A delegation from University of South Asia comprising two faculty members and 40 students visited the Bureau of Statistics (BoS), Punjab today. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Director General, BoS Punjab along with all Directors and Deputy Directors. During the session, the Director General, highlighted the vital role of the BoS, Punjab in the collection, compilation, analysis, and dissemination of official statistics for evidence-based planning and policymaking. The directors and the heads of various divisions of this Bureau, briefed the students and faculty members about the functions of their respective divisions and introduced the major publications of BoS, Punjab. The Bureau’s Online Data Portal (Punjab Info Portal) was presented to the participants, and the process for accessing statistical data through the portal was demonstrated. An interactive question-and-answer session was held where the student discussed issues related to the availability, accessibility, and reliability of data according to their research needs. The participants appreciated the informative session and the opportunity to gain practical insight into the working of the Bureau. Overall, the visit proved to be a valuable learning experience and strengthened academic interaction between the university and the Bureau of Statistics Punjab.

The Bureau of Statistics (BoS), Punjab, has launched the latest edition of “Punjab in Figures 2025”, an annual statistical brochure presenting key indicators related to the province's social, economic, administrative, and financial profile. The publication provides consolidated and sector-wise statistics at the provincial level, along with comparative information on important sectors, including Population, Education, Health, and Labour Force, for both Punjab and Pakistan. The brochure serves as a concise statistical reference for policymakers, planners, researchers, academia, government departments, and other stakeholders.

NEW DIRECTOR GENERAL MS. REHANA FARHAT TAKES OFFICE AT BUREAU OF STATISTICS PUNJAB
Lahore, April 28, 2026 - The Bureau of Statistics (BoS), Punjab, welcomed its newly appointed Director General, Ms. Rehana Farhat, who assumed charge of the office today. Shortly after taking over, she convened her first meeting with the Bureau's senior officers and directors. During the session, she was briefed in detail on ongoing activities, key projects, and the operational performance of BoS, Punjab's divisions.
Expressing satisfaction with the department’s performance, Ms. Farhat appreciated the dedication and professionalism of the officers and staff. She emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of efficiency, teamwork, and integrity, and urged employees to continue working with commitment to further improve the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of official statistics.
