As climate change intensifies, cities are becoming people’s safety nets but only if they are planned with resilience, inclusion, and sustainability at the center.

In Session 8, moderated by CFP’s Sustainability Lead Dawar Hameed Butt, the discussion on “Unregulated Urbanisation in the Climate Crisis” highlighted the urgent need to rethink how our cities grow.The panel emphasized that climate-smart urban planning, stronger institutions, reliable data, cleaner transport, and respect for existing ecosystems are essential to building cities that protect people rather than expose them to greater risk. Cities are no longer just places to live, they are frontline systems for climate resilience.

— Breathe Pakistan International Climate Change Conference, Day 2 —

CFP CEO, Mekaeel Malik, brought an end to the Conference’s proceedings with his closing remarks.

Over two days, the seemingly insurmountable challenges posed by climate change were deliberated upon. For every challenge posed, the assembled squad of experts, policy makers, and leaders had solutions ready. Time may be running out, but the path forward is clear: wholehearted and genuine collective effort, supported by adequate funding and effective policy implementation can steer us away from certain collapse to salvation.
