Pakistan Economy: Inflation to spike in August before trending down

Aug’26 inflation expected at 10.5% YoY and 0.5% MoM
National CPI is projected to increase by 0.5% MoM in Aug’26. Together with an unfavourable base effect, this would raise YoY inflation to 10.5%, from 9.2% in Jul’26 and 3.0% in Aug’25.

The category expected to have the greatest impact on Aug’26 inflation is the transport index (~5.9% weight in CPI). Transport inflation is expected to accelerate following increases of 7% and 14% in MS and HSD prices, respectively. These adjustments reflect higher international petroleum prices and other components of the domestic pricing mechanism.

Earning Review: SAZEW 4QFY26 EPS clocked in at PKR 144.4/sh (up 2.5x YoY), DPS PKR 20.0/sh

Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SAZEW PA) reported profitability of PKR 8.7Bn (EPS of PKR 144.4) in 4QFY26, (↑151%/36% YoY/QoQ). This brings full year profits to 23.6Bn (EPS of PKR 390.5). The result is higher than our expectations owing to better than expected topline.

The result is accompanied by a cash dividend of PKR 20.0/sh in 4QFY26, bringing the total payout to PKR 70.0/sh in FY26.

D.G. Khan Cement Company Limited (DGKC PA) profitability clocked-in at PKR 3.1Bn (EPS PKR 7.0/sh) in 4QFY26 as compared to a profit of PKR 3.1Bn (EPS PKR 7.2) in 4QFY25. The result is inline with our estimates. In FY26, bottom line grew by 32% YoY to PKR 11.4Bn. The company announced a final dividend of PKR 1/sh.

Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) profitability clocked-in at PKR 12.4Bn (EPS of PKR 43.7) in 4QFY26, ↑ 67/59% YoY/QoQ as against PKR 7.4Bn (EPS of PKR 26.2) in 4QFY25. This brings full year profits to PKR 31.9Bn (EPS of PKR 112.5), up 32% YoY. Results are above our expectations due to lower effective tax rate.

The company announced a final dividend of PKR 72.5/sh taking the total payout of PKR 100.0/sh.
