Sindh Micro-Finance Bank Limited Sindh Microfinance Bank (SMFB) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sindh Bank. The bank has an initial paid-up capital of Rs. 750 million.

Mission
“To reduce social and economic poverty by creating opportunities for low income households especially women through cost effective and financially sustainable products and services” SMFB got the NOC from State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and was incorporated with Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) on March 27, 2015 under Section 32 of the Companies Ordinance 1984 (XL VII of 198

4). The Sindh Microfinance Bank Ltd has started its Microfinance business operations on May 3, 2016 from its Karachi Branch. Sindh Microfinance Bank will focus on serving the under-privileged segment of society by introducing products easily accessible to those who are not able to avail banking services of conventional financial institutions. With the vision to empower women, SMFB will establish Service Centers providing credit facilities exclusively to women. Though the savings, loans and other banking facilities will be available to all small entrepreneurs but special attention would be given to low income section of the society. SMFB shall actively promote micro-entrepreneurship by conducting awareness campaigns designed and aimed predominantly to womenfolk. Core Values

welcomes FSC decision and seeks guidance from the Shariat Appelate Bench of Supreme Court regarding implementation of Federal Shariat Court’s Judgement of 28April22 on Riba case.

As prime custodian and regulator of financial and monetary framework of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, SBP is deeply committed to ensuring compliance with injunctions of Islam, in particular those pertaining to riba, while protecting stability and security of financial sector.

SBP has always remained at the forefront in promoting Islamic banking in the country. SBP is among the few regulators across the globe where comprehensive legal, regulatory and Shariah Governance frameworks have been successfully developed and implemented.

Currently, 22 Islamic Banking Institutions (5 full- fledged IBs and 17 conventional banks having standalone IB branches) with a network of 3,983 branches along with 1,418 IB windows/counters at conventional branches are operational across the country.

The Islamic Banking Industry now accounts for 19.4% of the country's overall banking system in terms of assets while in terms of deposits the share is 20% as of March 31, 2022.
