ABL has partnered with BYKEA Technologies Pvt. Ltd. to offer Cash at Doorstep services to the customers to provide an innovative and convenient digital banking experience. This feature will allow users of myABL Digital Banking to withdraw money from their bank accounts in the form of cash and get it delivered by a Bykea rider at their provided address. An agreement was signed between ABL and BYKEA Technologies in the Innovation Lab located at ABL Head Office in Lahore. The agreement was signed by Group Head of Digital Financial Services & Innovation at ABL, Mr. Mohsin Mithani, and Chief Information Officer at BYKEA Technologies, Mr. Abdul Mannan. The signing ceremony was also attended by Chief Digital Banking ABL, Mr. Sohail Aziz, and Founder BYKEA, Mr. Muneeb Maayr, along with senior officials from both sides.

Last month, the Power Division announced that there will be no load shedding of electricity during Sehri, Iftar, and Taraweeh to facilitate the citizens during Ramadan. The Sindh High Court (SHC) has asked the Finance Ministry to submit its recommendations on the legal status of cryptocurrency in the country within two months. The brief ruling came during a hearing of a petition seeking the legalization of cryptocurrency in Pakistan. The judges hearing the petition also expressed annoyance over the recently submitted by the Finance Ministry. The lawyer added that legalizing cryptocurrency in the country is a complicated matter and more time is required to find consensus on it. The bench grilled the lawyer and observed that the Finance Ministry is dragging on a simple matter unnecessarily. While adjourning the hearing till 13 June, the bench ordered the lawyer to ensure the Finance Ministry submits the recommendations on legalizing cryptocurrency in the country at the next hearing.

Note here that while attending the inaugural Pakistan Blockchain Summit 2022 earlier this year in January, the former Science and Technology Minister, Shibli Faraz, had revealed that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), and Finance Division intend to legalize cryptocurrency and are working towards it.

The Frontier Works Organization (FWO) has started the ex*****on of the Ring Road Rawalpindi project under the supervision of the Rawalpindi Development Authority. Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza said that the construction work of the 38.3 km long main carriageway from Baanth (N-5) to Thallian (M-2) under the Rawalpindi Ring Road project would be completed in two years.

He said RDA has awarded Rs. 22.8 billion contract to the FWO for a mega project of Rawalpindi Ring Road. He requested the FWO to speed up the work on this project.

After a Covid infection, there is an increased risk of developing a serious blood clot for the next six months, a study from Sweden suggests. The research found people with severe Covid, and those infected during the first wave, had the highest clot risk. This highlights the importance of being vaccinated against the virus, the researchers say.

Blood clots can also occur after vaccination but the risk is far smaller, a major UK study found. People who have had Covid-19 are more likely to develop a blood clot -- particularly patients who have needed hospital treatment. Scientists wanted to find out when that risk returns to normal levels.

The researchers tracked the health of just over one million people who tested positive for Covid between February 2020 and May 2021 in Sweden, and compared them with four million people of the same age and s*x who had not had a positive test.

Bank loans to the private sector exceeded the Rs. 1 trillion mark in the current financial year. This is the first time the banking industry has achieved this mark during the first nine months of a financial year. According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the credit to the private sector escalated to Rs. 1.035 billion during the period of July to March 25 as compared to Rs. 449 billion reported in the similar period of the last financial year, showing a staggering growth of 130 percent year-on-year or Rs. 585 billion from the last year.

U Bank has joined hands with the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) for the promotion of financial inclusion in the country. Kabeer Naqvi, President and CEO, U Microfinance Bank Limited (U Bank), and President and CEO, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Arif Usmani signed an MOU of strategic partnership between the two organizations.
