Visit of PMIC Leadership to TMF Head Office, Hyderabad.

The Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Microfinance Investment Company (PMIC), Mr. Yasir Ashfaq, along with Mr. Saqib Siddiqui, Chief Operating Officer, and Mr. Rashid Imran, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, paid an official visit to the Thardeep Microfinance (TMF) Head Office on 7 January 2026. The delegation was also accompanied by Mr. Saeed-u-Din, former CEO of ASA Microfinance Bank Pakistan. The visiting delegation was warmly received by Dr. Sono Khangharani, CEO TMF, along with senior management and team members. The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful discussions on TMF’s operational performance, portfolio quality, risk management framework, and ongoing initiatives. The visit concluded with an exchange of views on potential areas of collaboration and continued support, reaffirming the shared commitment of PMIC and TMF towards promoting inclusive and responsible financial services across Pakistan.

TMF Six-Month Progress Review Workshop
Theme: Stabilize, Correct, and Rebuild Together

At TMF, we believe that meaningful progress begins with honest reflection, open dialogue, and collective ownership of challenges and solutions. TMF organized a comprehensive Six-Month Progress Review Workshop from 31st December 2025 to 03rd January 2026, conducted at the Head Office as well as at Region Badin, Tharparkar, & Mirpurkhas clusters. The workshop brought together staff from Head Office, Regional, Cluster, Branch, and Field Teams, ensuring representation from all operational levels of the organization. TMF Head Office management, Regional Managers, Cluster Managers, Branch Managers, and Field Teams actively participated throughout the workshop sessions.
The workshop was designed to provide a safe and inclusive platform for open and constructive discussions on portfolio performance, delinquency trends, and operational realities.
Special emphasis was placed on listening to field teams’ experiences, recognizing their day-to-day realities, and aligning management perspectives with ground-level insights. The sessions encouraged honest dialogue on staff workload, safety, incentives, coordination gaps, and capacity needs, fostering a culture of transparency and mutual respect.
Through group discussions, plenary sessions, and solution-focused exercises, participants jointly identified key issues, lessons learned, and practical, actionable solutions. The workshop concluded with a shared commitment to implement corrective measures, strengthen internal coordination, and move forward with a collective approach toward stabilization, correction, and long-term rebuilding.
Overall, the Six-Month Progress Review Workshop reinforced TMF’s commitment to collective learning, staff empowerment, and sustainable improvement, recognizing that organizational resilience is built through trust, accountability, and shared responsibility.

CEO of SIMA (Social Investment Managers & Advisors), Mr. Asad Mahmood, along with his team, visited the TMF Head Office and was warmly received by TMF’s CEO, Dr. Sono Khangharani, and the Manager Monitoring & Research, Mr. Imran Khoso. Following the meeting, a field visit was conducted in Tando Allahyar district to assess the potential for solar financing. During the visit, the team engaged with agriculturists and poultry farmers to understand their energy needs, current practices, and interest in renewable energy solutions. The primary objective of the visit was to assess solar energy potential and explore collaboration opportunities with TMF for promoting sustainable and climate-resilient financing solutions.

PMIC has engaged Concave Agri as its consulting partner to conduct a comprehensive study on the Agriculture and Livestock sectors, aimed at designing Climate Smart Agriculture interventions in line with PMIC’s strategic direction and ecosystem development mandate.

As part of this study, Mr. Fuad Khan (Chief Commercial Officer, Concave Agri) and Mr. Hummayun Iqbal (Head of Field Operations) visited Village Wali Muhammad Thebo, Tehsil Kunri, District Umerkot, where they conducted a focus group discussion with both TMF clients and non-clients.

Mr. Imran Khoso, Manager Monitoring & Research – TMF, facilitated the team and supported them in conducting the interviews.

We are proud to share that TMF’s worthy CEO, Dr. Sono Khangharani, has been invited as a panelist at the 9th Annual Microfinance Conference (AMC9), organized by Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) in collaboration with UNIDO under the PAIDAR Project, funded by the European Union.

The CEO of TMF will join the panel discussion on “Microfinance in Rural & Challenging Markets,” where he will share his rich experience and insights on promoting financial inclusion and rural development.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Sono Khangharani, CEO of Thardeep Microfinance Foundation -TMF, to AMC9.

With over 30 years of experience spanning academia, corporate leadership, and development practice, Dr. Khangharani has dedicated much of his career to rural development and financial inclusion. He has held leadership roles at NRSP, TRDP, and SRSO before joining TMF, where he has overseen credit portfolios, risk frameworks, and enterprise development programs. His expertise combines a deep understanding of rural markets with modern approaches to governance, institutional resilience, and technology adoption.

AMC9 is being organized by Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) in collaboration with UNIDO under PAIDAR - Poverty alleviation and inclusive development across rural Sindh, funded by the European Union. At AMC9, Dr. Khangharani will join the dialogue on "Microfinance in Rural & Challenging Markets," bringing valuable insights into how inclusive financial services can transform lives in hard-to-reach communities.

The meeting focused on progress against set targets, challenges faced in operations, and strategic planning for the upcoming months.

The UNIDO PAIDAR Project successfully organized a Cardboard Cheque Distribution Ceremony on 23rd September 2025 in Larkana. On this occasion, 21 beneficiaries of Thardeep Microfinance Foundation (TMF) received their cheques, representing a significant step towards empowering local entrepreneurs and uplifting communities.

The initiative is designed to strengthen livelihoods, enhance financial inclusion, and empower individuals by equipping them with the resources needed to start or expand their income-generating activities. This collaboration between UNIDO PAIDAR and TMF underscores a shared commitment to sustainable development and poverty alleviation in the region.

The ceremony was also graced by the presence of Mr. Aftab Ahmed Larik, Regional Manager of TMF, and Mr. Aftab Ahmed Tagar, Project Manager, who highlighted the importance of such initiatives in bringing meaningful change to people’s lives.
