Withholding tax is a type of advance tax that is deducted at the source like when banks deduct tax on cash withdrawals or when mobile companies deduct tax on recharge. This tax is adjustable at the time of filing the return.

🚨📢 *FBR Issues New E-Declarations for Tax Year 2025*

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has rolled out new *electronic return forms* to simplify tax compliance for individuals and businesses in Pakistan. A key update is the **“Electronic Foreign Income and Assets Declaration for Resident Individuals”**, enabling residents to digitally declare offshore incomes and assets.

For non-residents, FBR has introduced a **separate electronic return** for those with no income source in Pakistan. Additionally, simplified return forms for individuals, companies, AOPs, manufacturers, traders, and SMEs have been finalized under **SRO 1562(I)/2025** and **SRO 1561(I)/2025**.

The FBR has clarified that any updates in the IRIS system will automatically apply, without negatively affecting taxpayers who have already filed. These measures are effective for **Tax Year 2025** and represent a major move towards **digitalization, transparency, and ease of compliance** in Pakistan’s tax system.
