UPDATE: Power has been restored in Pulantubig substations at 10:13 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.; Bagacay substation at 10:17 a.m.; Dauin substation at 10:18 a.m.; Siaton substation at 10:19 a.m.

BREAKING: NORECO 2 announced Wednesday, August 17, 2022, that there is a major power outage affecting the Amlan-Siaton 69kV transmission line of the NGCP.

The outage began at 10:00 a.m. and affects parts from Calo, San Jose and the entire areas of Sibulan, Dumaguete City, Valencia, Bacong, Dauin, Zamboanguita and Siaton.

The electrical cooperative is waiting for an official statement from the NGCP.

JUST IN: Another brewing storm has been spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this morning (Sept. 8, 2021).

This, as Severe Tropical Storm and Typhoon continue to make their way to the country.

According to weather forecast models, the low pressure area (LPA) has a high chance of developing into a storm and may also enter PAR in the coming days.

Negros Oriental, meanwhile, will continue to experience rainy weather today due to "Jolina" and the southwest monsoon (Habagat), PAGASA said in its daily forecast Wednesday.

Are we going back to normal soon?

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced that fully vaccinated individuals, particularly Americans, can return to some normalcy.

In its new guidelines, the CDC said that vaccinated individuals can:

1. Meet indoors with other fully vaccinated people without masks or social distancing

2. Meet indoors with unvaccinated people from a single household, if they are at low risk for severe illness from the virus

3. Skip testing or quarantine when exposed to Covid-19, unless symptoms appear.

So far, about 30 million individuals have been vaccinated in the United States.
