“COVID-19 Killed Him Before He Signs Our Policy Contract.” -
This is my proposed client since 2018. He was the one who approached me that he wanted to get a plan because he is a breadwinner and he wanted to secure the future of his family especially his baby girl. We met and had a discussion until we found out that he needed : Education for her child, Income Protection ( life insurance ) and Critical Illness.
I provided him a program which was specifically for education. It’s the one which has a contingent benefits which guarantees an education assistance on elementary, high-school, senior high-school and college especially in case of his death or disability, and another program was specifically tailored for men-related illness which has a guaranteed monthly pay-out incase if his death until to a certain age. He really loved the programs and really liked it. He told me that he would wait for his regularization and there he would sign the plan and told me to make a follow up on January 2019.
January 2019, I called him and made a follow up but he told me that he acquired a car and it’s mortgage is quite high because he got it on a shorter period. He said he’s gonna study his budget ( though I know that something is really wrong in his cashflow ). We chat and exchanged messages on messenger until he said that he would start on December 2019 as his birthday gift to himself and Christmas gift to his beloved family.
December 2019, I called him again. He told me that he wouldn’t be available because he had a lot of parties to join then they would spend half of the month to his province. I had my best objection handling that I could, but it was of no use. He definitely lost his interest on the risk management side because he earned well. He said, please make a follow up on January 2020.
January 2020, I called him many times but he didn’t answer. I chat him but he only read my messages, no response at all. I had so many events last January to February 2020 until COVID quarantined us last March.
COVID didn’t just quarantine him, COVID killed him last May 2020 leaving his fulltime housewife and beloved child in pain and in burden. Knowing this, it makes me feel sad, I could be an instrument to his family to continue a life with less burden when it comes to finances. If only I could deliver his monthly pay out check as income replacement and if only deliver his annual education benefit for his child until age 21.
To my fellow Registered Financial Consultants and Financial Advisers, we may feel bad, insulted and belittled sometimes, BUT please always make a follow up to your prospects and also tho those lapsed policies and most specially to our active clients. No matter how bad we feel.
To our prospects, we don’t beg for you to sign a policy contract, BUT I hope you do before our competitors ( death, illness, disability and aging ) will arrive.
