Brief History of PHCCI-MPC Tacloban

Poverty and the extreme desire to improve the quality of life of the common man were the two compelling reasons for the Redemptorist Fathers to make the steps to establish a cooperative within the Redemptorist Parish. Thus, on February 16, 1969 with 33 cooperators and an initial share capital of P1,201.94, PHCCI-MPC Tacloban was born. Since then, PHCCI-MPC Tacloban has grown in terms of membership and financial resources. From its inception to the present, its membership has increased many times over. The original 33 is now more than 26,000 strong regular members. The initial share capital of P1,201.94 is now P697 million, total assets of P1.8 billion and with over five branches and five satellite offices serving its members across Region VIII.

What is PHCCI-MPC Tacloban? PHCCI-MPC Tacloban is a cooperative financial organization owned, managed and controlled by its members, registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA). Members enjoy competitive interest rates on their loan availments, savings deposit and share with its profit thru dividend and patronage refund. Aside from financial benefits, members can avail of its social services, allied services and programs like medical and dental, kiddy and youth program and Coop Loan Protection Plan (CLPP).
