The SGP-7 Grantees are here at the 2nd KAHIUSA Summit at the Municipality of San Isidro, organized by the SGP-7 SIPLAS Strategic Grantee, Lokal Lab, showcasing locally made products, community-based initiatives, and stories of conservation and sustainable livelihoods across Siargao.

The gathering also brings together PACBRMA holders, community partners, and conservation champions working together to protect Siargao’s landscapes and seascapes.

The Summit also featured messages from the SGP-7 National Coordinator, UNDP Programme Analyst, and DENR-PAMO, reaffirming the importance of community-led conservation and strong partnerships in protecting Siargao’s natural resources. 🌱🤝

SGP-7 Monitoring & Evaluation in SIPLAS

The SGP-7 Project Management Unit (PMU), and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), together with SEDMFI as the SIPLAS Landscape-Level NGO Hub, conducted Monitoring and Evaluation site visits to partner-grantees Tawin-Tawin Farmers Association (TAWFA), Tuboran Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (TUFACO), and Pamosaingan Farmers and Fishermen Association (PAFAFIA).

The visits assessed project progress, validated accomplishments, and provided technical guidance to help strengthen project implementation and community-led initiatives.

[𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬] For years, farming simply meant getting by. Now, for Tabok Socorro Farmers Assoc., Inc. (TSFAI) in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, it has become an opportunity to farm more sustainably, and a source of pride and inspiration for the community.🌱👩‍🌾

With support from the 𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 of the Global Environment Facility 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 (𝗦𝗚𝗣-𝟳), TSFAI’s dream of Gintong Bukid (Golden Field) has started to grow. Through sustainable farming, shared learning, and community collaboration, farmer members have increased their harvests, strengthened their organization, improved food security, and helped protect the environment for the next generation.

Their story shows that when communities gain proper knowledge, resources, and a chance to direct their own progress, they nurture beyond crops. They also build resilience, leadership, and hope.

SEDMFI Provides Relief Assistance to the Fire Victims in Nueva Extension, Surigao City

SEDMFI extended relief assistance to the families affected by the recent fire incident in Nueva Extension, Surigao. And hopes to help ease the immediate challenges faced by the affected families as they begin the process of recovery.
