My Father's Love 💙
As a parent, I wanted to secure my children's future to the best possible way that I can. Im so touched and blessed with Atty Venus Velasco story, one of our AXA Financial Advisor, that we wanted to share it with you.
I had an early experience about Insurance. When I was ten (10) years old, a neighbor who is an insurance agent talked to my father and had with him papers to fill up. My father called us in the terrace and instructed us to follow what the neighbour said to fill up. I and my brother did not have any idea why we had to fill up some papers. I initially thought it as some kind of inheritance or something quite like that as what I saw in the movies. Then I heard “Insurance” and asked myself but why are we getting insured? Our father did not say a word. Then the agent said, “Just fill this up, and it’s for you”.
Then after exactly eighteen (18) days, an unfortunate event happened where my father was shot to death. I forgot about what we signed eighteen (18) days ago. What I realized what that life was too short.
I worked my own way and became a scholar all the way until college. Then that same agent notified us that we will get something but it was me and my mother (as guardian for my minor brother) who must claim the money. I asked where that money came from and mother said it was from the insurance company. It was a sigh of relief and became a big help for the family expenses.
Then my mother handed to me a brown envelope and when I opened it, it was two (2) insurance policies purchased in 1990. Then I learned that every five (5) years we will get an amount of money as long as we live. I never thought it was something like that! It became a big help while I was reviewing for the bar examinations when I claimed again in 2015.
And now, I’m about to claim again in July 2020.
As an adult, I realized my father did the right thing.
He didn’t finish any degree. He was a farmer. We are not a rich family. But our parents work hard to give us what other parents gave their children.
I’m glad that they heeded to the advice of our neighbour insurance agent and I still thank him for that.
Until now, I feel the love of my father even after almost thirty (30) years when he left us.
In times like these, material things don’t count much. But what should be prioritized is SECURITY AND PROTECTION.
I hope that as millennial parents and individuals, we are open to INVESTMENT FOR THE FUTURE. My father purchased two (2) insurance policies for me and my brother way back in 1990.
Now its 2020, aren’t you ready yet to purchase one for you and for your loved ones? Time to secure and create a bright future. Good thing is, it’s not too late!
