HAVE YOU EVER BEEN DENIED A VISA?
I have. It was painful.
I was a 25-year old missionary.
I was applying for a US visa because someone invited me to give a talk there.
But in the application form, it asked for my net worth.
I asked a friend beside me, “What does net worth mean?” (Back then, I really didn’t know what it was!)
He said, “Your assets. Do you own a house?”
I told him, “Nope.”
“Do you have a car? If yes, what model?"
“Yes. A jeep. The one assembled in the backyard. Model? 1943."
My friend looked at me with pity.
“If you were to sell it, how much?”
“P1500,” I said.
Shocked, he asked, “What?”
“Actually,” I said, “that’s what I’m willing to PAY anyone who wants to take the jeep out of my hands. It conks out every other day. I’m already praying for its future owner. For patience amidst tribulations.”
He sighed, “Do you have money in the bank?”
“None."
“None?”
“None.”
“So your net worth is in your wallet?”
“I guess so,” I said.
I opened my wallet, counted my money, and wrote the answer on my application form.
Obviously, my US visa application was denied.
And it hurt.
When I was 25, I had nothing.
When I was 30 years old, I STILL had nothing.
But that was the year I decided to CHANGE my financial life.
That was when I become an investor and entrepreneur WHILE doing mission work.
20+ years later, things are a little bit different in my life.
I don’t have a problem getting a visa anymore.😂😂😂
Today, I enjoy Financial Freedom.
What is that?
When my earnings from my investments can pay for ALL my expenses.
So if I choose to, I can stop working.
But I still work because I love my work.❤️
And most of all, I love being generous to God's work.😁
But in my heart, I’m still the same as when I was 25.
Because everything I have is on temporary loan.
God is the true Owner of all that I have.
Prospering doesn’t have to be selflish.
It can be very selfless.😁
