2012 noong nag-enroll si Trixia Madriaga sa TESDA Provincial Training Center-Palayan sa Nueva Ecija. Welding lang ang available na course noon, at karamihan, iniisip din na pang-lalaki lang daw yun.

Pero tumuloy pa rin si Trixia at tinapos ang Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II at Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) NC II courses. Matapos ang ilang taon ng pagtatrabaho, taong 2019 nang nakalipad siya papuntang Japan bilang certified welder.

Ngayon, papunta na siya sa Australia para sa bagong work opportunity. "Salamat, TESDA. Dahil sa inyo, nabago ang buhay ko," sabi ni Trixia.

TESDA Secretary Kiko Benitez shared this call to action as the keynote speaker at the 2026 National Textile Convention (TELACon), where he emphasized the importance of human capacity development and sustained upskilling to strengthen the Philippine textile workforce. He underscored the need for close collaboration among government, industry, and academia in shaping the Philippine Skills Framework for Textiles and Wearables.

Organized by the DOST–Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI), the three-day convention gathered textile innovators, industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers to collectively chart an inclusive, globally competitive, and sustainable future for the Philippine textile sector and its allied industries.

As a key partner of DOST-PTRI, TESDA reaffirmed its commitment to aligning TVET programs with industry needs and supporting innovation in textile science, weaving, and production.
