As a quick rest from doing case digests, I would like to honor and give thanks to one of my corporate clients, which chose to give back to its employees even if insurance premium meant company savings already.

The company secured individual policies for its key persons and Group Life coverage for the rest of its employees. In the event of life uncertainty, instead of pulling out some from business funds to help the employee in need, the company representative opted to let go of the minimal savings to give more to the former.

In the end, the company lost some to gain more and a good number of intangibles were layered in the process - respect, loyalty, love and care - resulting to a more raving and loyal employees.

Always remember that "what goes around, comes around".

Supporting someone in need when you can, especially when such support will not hurt you, is a token that may be cashed in in times of need. Intent to provide support takes conscious effort and awareness, which could be easily blurred by emotions such as intense happiness or overwhelming sadness or uncontrollable anger.

Next time you are in an inconvenient situation and support is nowhere to be found, reflect and see where you missed to give support that you expect to come around. If you did truly good but support is still scarce, find comfort in the idea that karma is around to do your fight. Wait and watch.

While having lunch or before sleeping, it is my habit to watch Netflix and after 4 installments, I finished "Only We Know". I opted to watch this because I did not want to think or miss any subtitle while eating.

Few minutes to the opening scene is my deal breaker whether or not I would finish a movie and to my surprise, the first scene plunged me into reflection mode right away. The script is rich and well written. The director will place you under palpable tension between the characters, creating a conflicting feeling between anticipation and denial that the actors would eventually fall in love with each other. And they did... on a different plane and the resolution, for me, was the scene in the camp site.

In sum, beautiful movie. Brilliant performance. Really.

This is the first real life civil case I handled, as a law student at that. I asked help from a lawyer-friend, on a contingent fee, but I was ignored. A friend connected me to another lawyer and the latter said yes without me asking twice. We did not even talk about fee at all!!! Good soul.

The condition was, I would do all the paper works for his proofreading, signing and approval. I immediately said yes because it meant learning the ropes. I studied hard from the time complaint was filed up to the time position paper was required. The first draft, each time, was given a green light. I was so happy!!!

Happier is the Decision we received!

This journey taught me a lot of things about life, friendship and our justice system.
