B. Eastern Samar Mission implemented by Curia Sancti Rosarii, Inc. (CSRI)
A team of three (composed of the HRP Ministry on Service Head and two female volunteers, one a licensed social worker and another, a researcher/writer) was deployed to Eastern Samar on a four-day mission (November 25 to 29, 2013) to:
• Validate information and document the post-disaster situation in Eastern Samar
• Explore possible forms of assistance to the affected communities
• Deliver food items to Eastern Samar parishes
The team coordinated and made arrangements with Guiuan-based priests, Fr. Lennox Garcia and Fr. Andy Egargo and Relief Communications Officer Fr. Neil Tenefrancia of the Diocese of Borongan. The team covered 2 towns of Western Samar (Basey and Marabut) and 4 towns of Eastern Samar (Lawaan, Balangiga, Giporlos and Quinapondan) + Ormoc, Palo and Tacloban in Leyte. Situation updates and recommendations from the group became the basis for decisions on the assistance to be extended to Western Visayas, specifically Tacloban/Palo, Leyte and Eastern Samar.
