Sent this update to my Sun Life clients and explained the simple version of what that news means:

👉 The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) just increased interest rates from 4.25% to 4.5%.

So… what does that mean for you?

1. Mas mahal umutang 💸
If you have loans (credit cards, personal loans, housing loans), expect:

* Higher interest
* Slightly higher monthly payments (especially for variable rates)

2. Mas hihina ang gastos ng tao
When borrowing becomes expensive, people tend to:

* Spend less
* Delay big purchases (cars, houses, negosyo)

3. Goal: pababain ang inflation
Inflation = pagtaas ng presyo ng bilihin.
Tinaasan ng BSP ang rates para:

* Pahupain ang spending
* Eventually slow down price increases

4. Bakit ngayon lang ulit?
First time in more than 2 years na nagtaas ulit, dahil:

* Tumataas ulit ang presyo (partly dahil sa global issues like war sa Middle East)

In one sentence:

👉 Tinaasan ng BSP ang interest rates para pigilan ang pagtaas ng presyo—even if it makes utang more expensive in the short term.
