"But what if I actually need the healthcare?"
Then use it.

That's what it's there for.

Yesterday, we showed how unused healthcare benefits can accumulate and grow over time.

Pero hindi naman ang goal ng healthcare plan ay huwag kang magkasakit para lang lumaki ang fund mo.

The goal is to be prepared.

If you need healthcare, use the benefits to help with your healthcare expenses.

If you remain healthy and don't need them, unused benefits can accumulate and grow.

Yes, using your healthcare benefits may mean having a smaller accumulated fund later.

Pero hindi iyon perang "nawala."

You received the benefit when you needed it.

And if you don't need it?

Good! That's what we all hope for.

Then the unused benefits can continue working for your future.

Hindi natin alam today kung ano ang mangyayari 10, 20, or 30 years from now.

And that's really the point.

Need the healthcare? Use it.
Don't need it? Let it grow.

Either way, you're prepared.

Saan nanggaling yung ₱4,871,375?

For the past two days, we've been showing what starting earlier can do.

Pero baka may nagtatanong:

"Paano naman naging ₱4.8 million yung ₱5,882/month?"

Good question.

Hindi kasi simpleng ipon lang ang Kaiser Ultimate.

Different benefits happen at different stages.

Years 1-7

You pay ₱5,882/month for the K100 plan.

During this period, you have healthcare insurance and life insurance protection. Mayroon ding libreng APE at basic dental benefits

Years 8-20

Tapos na ang paying period.

Unused healthcare benefits can accumulate and earn interest.

Actual rates may vary depende sa market rates, but in no case less than 3% p.a.

And life insurance protection continues until Year 20.

After Year 20

The accumulated fund continues to earn positive interest.

So if you need the healthcare along the way, use it. That's what it's there for.

But if you remain healthy and don't need to use those benefits, the unused funds have more time to accumulate and grow.

That's how the illustration for someone who starts K100 at age 25 can reach a projected:

₱4,871,375 at age 60

The illustration assumes 10% growth and unused benefits.

Hindi guaranteed ang ₱4.87 million. It's a projection based on those assumptions.

But here's the lesson I like:

Healthcare when you need it. Growth when you don't.

Either way, you're preparing for tomorrow.

What if you started 10 years earlier?

Yesterday, we saw what happens when our 35-year-old waits another 5 years.

Today, baliktarin naman natin ang tanong.

What if he had started 10 years earlier?

At age 35, with the K100 plan:
₱5,882/month for 7 years.
Projected value at age 60:
₱1,878,126

But if he had started the same plan at age 25:
Same ₱5,882/month.
Same 7 years of payments.
Projected value at age 60:
₱4,871,375

That's:
₱2,993,249 MORE.

Hindi dahil mas malaki ang monthly payment.
He simply gave his money 10 more years to grow.

Ito ang nakakatuwa - and sometimes nakakapanghinayang - about time.

Kapag bata tayo, feeling natin marami pa tayong panahon, kaya puwedeng maghintay.

Pero iyon mismo ang panahon na pinakamalaking advantage natin.

At age 25, baka hindi pa retirement ang iniisip mo.

Baka career. Travel. Dream home. Family.

That's okay.

But you don't have to wait until retirement feels close before you start preparing for it.

The farther away tomorrow is, the more time you have working for you today.

Whatever tomorrow brings.

Remember our 35-year-old from yesterday?

Sabi niya:
"I'll do it later."

So let's see what "later" can actually cost.

Suppose he starts preparing for his long-term healthcare at age 35.

K100 recommended plan:
₱5,882/month for 7 years.

Projected value at age 60:
Start at 35: ₱1,878,126

Now suppose pareho lang ang plan, pareho lang ang monthly payment, pareho ring 7 years...

Pero naghintay siya ng 5 years.

Projected value at age 60:
Start at 40: ₱1,166,169

The difference?
₱711,957.

Hindi dahil mas maliit ang binayad niya.

Hindi dahil ibang plan ang kinuha niya.

He simply started five years later.

Ito yung sinasabi natin kahapon:
"Later has a cost."

When money has time to grow, hindi lang pera ang investment natin.

Time is part of the investment.

Kaya kung matagal pa bago ang retirement mo, that's not a reason to wait.

That time may actually be one of your biggest advantages.

What about YOUR age?

Message me your age and I'll show you what starting now could look like.

Whatever tomorrow brings.

"I'll do it later."

Five years doesn't sound very long.

Especially when you're 35.

"Next year na."
"Marami pa akong expenses."
"Bata pa naman ako."
"Pag mas mataas na ang income ko."

Normal naman. Marami tayong priorities ngayon.

But when you're preparing for something that needs time to grow, waiting has a cost.

At 40, baka pareho pa rin ang trabaho mo.
Baka mas malaki na ang income mo.
Baka healthy ka pa rin.

Pero may isang bagay na hindi mo na mababawi:

Those five years.

Kaya when preparing for retirement, investments, or future healthcare, hindi lang ito tungkol sa:
"How much money do I need?"

May isa pang importanteng tanong:
"How much time do I still have?"

Money lost can sometimes be earned again.

Pero ang oras na lumipas, hindi na natin maibabalik.

Time is part of the investment.

You have healthcare today. But is it yours?

Maraming employees ang may magandang healthcare benefits today.

* Company HMO.
* Medical reimbursement.
* Hospitalization benefits.

And while you're employed, that's great.

Pero may isang tanong na madaling makalimutan:

What happens when you retire?

If your healthcare comes with your job, chances are your healthcare leaves when the job does.

Unfortunately, that's also the time when we're getting older—and healthcare becomes even more important.

That's why I think we should look at healthcare in two ways:

Healthcare that protects us today
Healthcare that we're preparing for tomorrow

Hindi naman kailangang mamili sa dalawa.

In fact, if you already have good healthcare benefits today, that's an advantage. Use today's benefits while preparing your own healthcare for the future.

Because retirement shouldn't mean retiring your healthcare too.

What are we really preparing for?

We talk a lot about saving.
* Investing.
* Healthcare.
* Insurance.
* Retirement.

But these are not really the goals.
They're tools.

The real goal is the life we hope those tools will help us enjoy someday.

To be HAPPY!

To have time for our spouse, children, grandchildren, friends—and ourselves.

To travel.
To enjoy ordinary mornings without rushing to work.

To have the freedom to choose what we want to do with our time.

To be HEALTHY!

Not because we can guarantee good health.

We can't.

But because when healthcare is needed, we have resources prepared for it—without automatically sacrificing everything else we've worked for.

And to be WEALTHY!

Not necessarily mansion-and-sports-car wealthy. 😊

But wealthy enough that money gives us choices.
* Enough retirement income.
* Enough healthcare resources.

Enough financial independence that our children don't have to become our retirement plan.

* That's why we prepare while we're still earning.
* That's why we save.
* That's why we invest.
* That's why we prepare for healthcare.

And that's why starting early matters.

We're not preparing just to become old.

We're preparing to live well when we're older.

Happy.
Healthy.
Wealthy.

That's the future worth preparing for!

What would a happy, healthy and wealthy retirement look like for you?

05/09/2026

What if I don't want to work until 60?
What if I want to retire earlier?

Maybe you enjoy your work.

Maybe you're doing well.

But wouldn't it be nice if someday, continuing to work became a choice instead of a necessity?

When people prepare for early retirement, they usually ask:

“Do I have enough money to stop working?”

That's important.

But there's another question:

“What happens to my healthcare when I stop working?”

Imagine you're 50.

You've saved and invested well.

You calculate your expenses and realize:

Kaya ko na.

Then you look at the healthcare benefits you enjoy from your employer.

If you leave the job...

Those benefits may leave with it.

Suddenly, retiring early isn't only about replacing your salary.

You also have to replace the healthcare benefits that came with your employment.

That's why I think financial freedom has two parts:
* Retirement income gives you financial freedom.
* Long-term healthcare can give you healthcare freedom.

Prepare for both early enough, and maybe you don't have to wait for an arbitrary retirement age before deciding what you want to do with your life.

Maybe you continue working because you love what you do.

Great.

Maybe you slow down.

Start a business.

Travel.

Spend more time with family.

Do volunteer work.

Or simply wake up on Monday morning knowing:

“I don't HAVE to go to work. I CHOOSE to.”

That's a very different kind of retirement planning.

The goal isn't necessarily to retire early.

The goal is to have the option.

At what age would you like work to become optional?

What difference can 10 years make?

A LOT!

Here's an actual example from an official long-term healthcare illustration.

Same plan.
Same annual premium: ₱26,470.
Same destination: age 60.

The big difference?

When you start.

Start at age 10:
Illustrated value at 60 — ₱9,157,024

Start at age 20:
Illustrated value at 60 — ₱3,530,429

Start at age 30:
Illustrated value at 60 — ₱1,361,133

Start at age 40:
Illustrated value at 60 — 524,776

Look at that again.
From age 10 to age 20, you waited only 10 years.

But the illustrated age-60 value dropped from about ₱9.2 million to ₱3.5 million.

Wait another 10 years to age 30?
About ₱1.4 million.

Start at 40?
About ₱525,000.

Why such a huge difference?

TIME.

Money started earlier has more years to potentially grow and compound.

And here's another important point:

You don't start long-term healthcare early because you expect to get sick early.

You start early because hopefully, you stay healthy for a very long time.

That gives your healthcare fund more time before you need to consume it.

And there's one more cost to waiting that isn't shown by those numbers:

Options can disappear.
This particular plan is available only up to age 40.
The plan available to age 40+ is more expensive

So sometimes waiting doesn't just mean losing another year of potential growth.

It can mean losing an option altogether.

The lesson isn't:
“Sayang, I should have started at 10.”

If you're 20, start thinking at 20.
If you're 30, start thinking at 30.
If you're 40, start thinking at 40.

Because you can't go back and start earlier.

But you can decide what you do with the time you still have.

The earlier, the better.

Time may be your most valuable contribution.

*Figures shown are illustrated values from the applicable plan illustration and are not guaranteed.
Actual results may vary.

"I can afford healthcare."
Great!

If you've built savings, investments, property or a substantial retirement fund, maybe you really can.

But here's another way to think about it:

Just because you CAN pay for healthcare from your retirement fund doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Suppose you've accumulated ₱10 million for retirement.

Then later in life, you need ₱3 million for healthcare.

Yes, you can afford it.

But suddenly, the ₱10 million you thought you had for retirement wasn't really ₱10 million for retirement.

It was:

₱7 million for retirement.
₱3 million for healthcare.

You just hadn't separated the two buckets.
And that matters.

Because your retirement fund has other jobs.
* Travel.
* Lifestyle.
* Family.
* Hobbies.
* Dreams.
* Maybe a legacy for your children.

So why make future healthcare compete with all of them?

This is one reason I like the concept of long-term healthcare:

Give healthcare its own fund.

Let your retirement investments take care of your retirement.
Let your healthcare fund take care of your healthcare.

And if you remain healthy and don't need much healthcare?
Even better.

That healthcare fund may have more time to grow and potentially become another financial resource later in life.

Being able to afford healthcare is good.

Being able to afford it without sacrificing the retirement you worked for is even better.

If you're already building a retirement fund, have you also created a separate bucket for future healthcare?
