Obviously, the year 2020 was economically hard for many Filipinos.

The non-life insurance industry has written a net premium of P35.46 billion in 2020, down by 19.45% of the industry’s record of 2019. The new business annual premium equivalent of the life insurance industry in the amount of P33.21 billion likewise posted a 19.52% dip from 2019.


Paragon Financial and Insurance Agency Inc. ended the year with P431 million premium production. It is 78.09% more than the previous year. By the second quarter of 2021, the company looks forward to hitting more than P600 million premium production by year end.

This year marks my 20th year in the insurance industry. At 20, I am proud to achieve a one of a kind record of insuring some 820,000 Filipinos. To my principals and my clients who believed and continue to believe me, I cannot thank you enough.

These days, it is ordinary for me to see people on the streets, in the super market, or in the malls who are insured with us. In Visayas, while waiting for my flight, I roamed around a shopping center and I was greeted by smiling security guards who are insured through us. We see the same in Luzon and in Mindanao. At our frequently visited mall, guards who are our clients welcome us each time we visit. On many occasions, we see students and professionals alike who, by their uniforms, are identified as our clients.

The usual traffic woes are lightened, when I see people on the streets and properties insured with us too. These because more than 800,000 Filipinos are in one way or another insured through us. One in every 100 Filipinos are insured through us.

We were received warmly in Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Europe and in the United States by satisfied clients. Yes, we have covered people in the advance economies to high-risk territories in all the six continents of the world. We have gone beyond borders.

Along the way, I have worked with giant insurers in the country and a few respected insurers abroad. I received citations from the Philippine and foreign insurers but the most gratifying gift in my career is having the opportunity to insure insurers, giant insurers, including top insurance professionals.

I started insurance at a time Asia was rising from the financial crisis that started in Thailand. Now, we are marching to our third decade as we start to rise from a health-financial crisis that started in China. Our summer experience is a litmus test for many businesses as to who can survive.

If we greet you with a smile after the lockdown, it means we passed the test and we are giving you our solid commitment of delivering what you expect from us, peace of mind.

This 2019 alone, some 130,000 lives have been added to our list of insured people.
