I came across a post in a car group related to comprehensive car insurance.
Based on the details shared, the owner already paid for the tricycle involved in the accident — which means they intentionally chose not to include that cost under their insurance claim.
Now, their concern is about their own vehicle.
Their question was: What are the requirements needed to file a car insurance claim?
Here are the common requirements usually needed when filing a car insurance claim:
1.POLICE REPORT
This document is required, especially when a third party is involved in the incident. Through the police report, Insurance investigator can determine which party is at fault and liable for the damages that may be covered by the insurance.
2.ESTIMATE REPAIR from CASA/NON CASA
The insurance adjuster will evaluate if the repair costs stated in the estimate are reasonable before releasing the LOA (Letter of Authority).
3. INSURANCE POLICY
4.OR/CR (Official Receipt and Certificate of Registration)
5.DRIVER'S LICENSE (Driver’s License of the assured (vehicle owner) and the driver at the time of the incident.)
Some insurance companies also require the official receipt of the license, but if it’s missing, you may provide an notarized affidavit of Loss instead.
6.All-Angle Photos and Videos of the Insured Vehicle
Take photos from the front, back, left, and right sides, plus two close-up shots of the damaged area.
Also include a walk-around video of the vehicle showing the odometer. It’s even better if you can provide photos and videos taken immediately after the incident, showing the exact final position of all vehicles involved.
These are the "common" requirements that most insurance companies ask for when processing a claim.
Some companies may require additional documents, depending on their internal guidelines or the insurer handling your comprehensive policy.
That’s all — thank you!
