Four reasons why planning for Retirement is very important.

1. SSS and Philhealth retirement program are not enough - those will not sustain your medical bills and you will need to downgrade your lifestyle if you will depend on your SSS pension alone.

2. Inflation - your P100 now will have a lesser value in the future.

Why don't Pinoys invest?

20's - Bata pa naman ako, saka na ako mag-save at invest. YOLO!

30's - Magsimula na kami magtayo ng pamilya bro, unahin ko muna pang araw-araw namin, saka na 'yan.

40's - May mga anak na ako, andaming gastusin sa school, pasukan na naman, saka na 'yan.

50's - Malapit na ako magretire, patapusin ko muna panganay ko para sya na bahala sa mga kapatid nya, saka ako magiinvest.

60's - Retired na ako. Wala na akong income. Sana nag save and invest na ako noon. Sana nalaman ko ng mas maaga.

Don't let that be you.

The longer time you have, the less money you need to save and invest for your goals (e.g. retirement). The less time you have, the more money you need to put in.

Noon, may nakausap akong OFW sa Hong Kong, promise nya sa mga anak nya na 2 years old at 3 years old na dalawang taon lang siya sa abroad at kapag nakaipon na, uuwi na siya upang makasama ang pamilya.

Pagkatapos ng dalawang taon, walang naipon. Nagkautang pa. 😢 So kailangan mag extend na naman ng another dalawang taon. Same result pa din.

Ngayon, 20 years na pala siya sa abroad, wala pa ding ipon at lalong lumaki pa ang utang. Malalaki na ang mga anak nya na wala siya sa tabi nila sa mga mahahalagang kabanata ng buhay nila.

Ano ang kaibahan ng MUTUAL FUND at STOCK MARKET?

» Sa Mutual Fund, may FUND MANAGER na humahawak ng pondo mo. May mga rules siya na dapat mo sundin at siya ang nagdedesisyon kung saan iinvest ang pera mo. Siyempre, dahil expert sila at sila nagma-manage sa pagpapalago ng pera mo, less risk pero mas malaki ang charges. Kung ihahalintulad sa biyahe, nagko-commute ka lang at nagbabayad sa driver para makarating sa pupuntahan mo. Kahit ZERO knowledge ka sa stocks/mutual funds, ok lang dahil may fund manager ka.

» Sa Stock Market naman, ikaw ang bahala sa lahat. You make your own rules. Ikaw bahala sa kung magkano ipopondo mo at kung saan mo ito iinvest.
