I could not explain how I felt at that time.
I was excited, happy, uncomfortable, nervous,
and scared to death. I had mixed feelings,
and my mind wandered.

Can I still go home alive? What will happen to
my children if I don't make it? Our driver must
be very skilled, a slight error in maneuvering
the gear will cause the car to fall down the cliff.

I was distracted by that thought when my
local colleague asked me what I was thinking.

I didn't answer him about what I felt
at that moment. I was too scared because of
the danger that lied ahead.

We have been traveling 2,500 meters
above sea level on a rocky, narrow road.
I even lost track of how many mountains we've passed.

Instead, I told him how we could possibly visit other
district offices with the limited time we have.

Thank God we reached our destination safe and sound.

I was so amazed with the surroundings.
It's like I was looking at a huge painting full of different
colors with lovely trees and mountains.

We sometimes feel scared, and uncomfortable and
lose track when we start building our financial goals.

A journey to every endeavor requires perseverance
and determination to reach the destination. Once
we overcome all those challenges, a brighter life
is waiting for us to celebrate.

WHAT IS YOUR LABEL?

People often judge you on the way you look,
The way you dress, or the way you project yourself.
They will even criticize you.

I’m always conscious about how much I’ll be spending.
Whenever we go out of town, most of the time,
I prepare cooked food instead of
dining in a fancy restaurant.

I’m buying local products instead of branded ones.
During my time, it’s a big deal if you are
using branded products.

That’s why I was labeled in the past as
a stingy or “kuripot’ in our language.
Who cares? I was just being frugal.
Keeping a frugal life does not mean
being cheap or stingy.

It only means, keeping a SIMPLE LIFESTYLE and LIVING
WITHIN YOUR MEANS.

I SAVED approx. PHP 90,000 or US$ 1,700.00 on SODA
(Carbonated drinks)

Drinking soda gives us (for me) a sense of fulfillment.
There is this strange feeling when opening a bottle of soda,
and drinking it is so much more satisfying.

I was in my teenage years when my mom always served me
a glass of sarsi (a Filipino brand of soda) mixed with raw egg, (sounds weird) whenever I felt dizzy.

I remember mom telling me to drink this mixture to feel better.
I don't know whether it is psychological, but it helps, I felt
better after a while of consuming a glass of soda.

I used to drink soda almost every day (but not with raw egg, 😅) during my younger years, now you know how old I am 😀.

I stop drinking it for health reasons.
I remember the last time I drank soda was in 2004.
Wow! that's almost 18 years.

I googled the price of soda and shows me
the 290ML bottle is about PHP 40/bottle (0.80 cents).
Uh, that's a whopping increase of PHP 25/bottle from 2004
(as far as I can remember).

I realized that SAVING MONEY is simple but not easy.

Sharing the 5 TIPS that may help you save more or get you into the habit of saving money.

1. Be aware of your spending habit.
2. Learn self-discipline and exercise self-control
when it comes to spending.
3. Avoid unnecessary expenses (know the difference
between wants and needs)
4. Practice the 30-day rules for a big purchase.
5. Pay yourself first
